I finally talked to my painter again, and we scheduled the paint job in two weeks. He also gave me some paint chips to start looking at.

I was originally going to go with a silver base, with black racing stripes, and a blue pearl clear coat.....but know i am having second thoughts

My car is getting 92 Z28 GFX and high rise spoiler...It also has a ASCD big block hood. I think i want to have the racing stripes.

I am open to any and all suggestion...except red w/ black or black w/ red combinations, i like how they look, but there are just to many cars around here with those two colors.

BTW...this car will be a daily driver in the summer, but no more than about 5,000mi a year

i have thought about that scheme for a long time, and i really like those colors on a 4th gen, but i cant really picture it on a 3rd gen

 

i think a nice silver in itself with a heritage black stripe set would look great!

what type of stripes are you considering? i personally don't like ones that extend down the front and rear of the car.

what about different, brighter colors?

i would really love to see the dupont lamborghini orange (supra TF&F ) on a thirdgen.

I probably will just have my painter paint the stripes on, so i can pretty much choose any length or width. I kind of want the stripes to follow the lines of my hood....so the stripes wouldnt be straight(like on the 4th gens)

I really like the idea of silver w/ black stripes too. I am looking for TF&F dvd right now to look at the supra again. I am not apposed of bright colors. I just want to stay away from red, green, and white, purple, and yellow. i am not totally opposed of red, its just that thats what my car was, and i am just looking for a change.

I like the lamborghini orange.....what color of stripes would look good with it??

I also have considered a dark met. blue with some silver stripes.

 

i just got my car painted electron blue and im thinkin bout putting on black stripes...to many people with blue and silver or white stripes

 

I think silver with either blue or black stripes would look SWEET @SS SWEET. I love stripes so no matter what you do it should look really good.

It's personal preference, man. Some guys love blue, some love yellow.

You need to decide what color you've always wanted, then find the perfect shade of that color that "does it for you". I wouldn't recommend asking for suggestions because you have a taste that's unique to you.

Pick a color you love, then pick the shade within that color. Then post on here if anyone has any suggestions that could make that color/shade better (tints, pearls, stripes, whatever).

 

i agree, it's your choice although the lamborghini orange is cheap and would be completely different from anything out there.

How about Silver with Ghost Heritage strips. I think that would look awesome.

 

there again you could use a black diamond pearl to give a darker tint to the "ghost" stripes....would be very cool!

How do i have the painter paint the car so at night the paint will look really rich in color and has some depth to it? Is that done with the use of pearls, or just the metallic in the paints??

 

Not sure about pearls, but my I have Black saphire metallic, and it's bright midnight blue, with blue purple and green flake in day, and black at night

 

metallics give depth and pearls give a glow effect.........

you could try something crazy like a heavy metallic gold base with a orange candy clear and some gold pearl.

now that would be insane....

we did a heavy metallic gold base with a green clear and gold pearl and it was extremely sharp. nothing gaudy but it definately stands out in traffic.
