No not a FormulAm,,,it's a Forumla!!

1. I would never buy a car without seeing it in person or driving it first.

2. Ebay needs to incorporate some kind of spell checker when people write descriptions of items.

I can barely tell anymore now a days since so many people mix and swap parts. I was thinking it was a Formula with Trans Am Ground effects added, then I noticed the 15" wheels. No Formulas came with 15" wheels and I highly doubt anyone who had a Formula would go with the smaller 15" design unless the wheels were stolen or something.

hmmm....I dunno, it has firebird tails, and spoiler. but a t.a. bumper, and formula hood. I'd say its a regular firebird or maybe a formula. I wonder if its a tpi???

BTW- did ya see at the bottom were you can buy the spoke rims for $75 bucks. I wonder if they're gta rims!!!

Its a TBI Firebird with the aero package... not unheard of, but still basically junk.

The forumla decal on the door looks too high. Its probably just a base firebird, with the ground effects package that someone stuck formula decals on. Its not a T/A, because it has the base firebird/formula tail lights. This guy's spelling is making me hurt just to read... "this car has a rebuilt carboratior", "there is no sterio"

I think it's a Trans Am with the LG4 and Firebird Tail lights.

Best thing to do is ask for the VIN# & go from there. Should tell year, engine & style.

it dosn't say formula on the rear bumper.. wrong spoiler, wrong nose..
"There is a spoiler on it which came from a newer firebird and the back slots also came from a newer one"

back slots? rear spoiler? why would you replace a formula spoiler with a base model spoiler... and i didn't know that they had the hatch louvers from factory...
i say hack job.. they took a formula with had some damage and either an "aero package" firebird or a trans am and transplanted parts (from and rear bumpers, gfx, but then, why not take the T/A spoiler?!) old spoiler cracked.... parts car spoiler cracked, just ripped off a spoiler from a junk yard firebird..

a writeoff they bought from an insurance auction and fixed it up, make a quick penny..
i know a few people who do this..

Not a TBI, LG4 like Zeph said. A/C on drivers side and tbi's came out in 88. I think its either the areo package firebird, or a trans am with pixed parts.

Those base firebird wheels were put on t/a's mid eighties as baseline wheels. Those definetly arent the forula wheels.

Spoiler is wrong, but maybe it cracked so much that they just got a firebird one from a bone yard.

I didn't think you could tell a formula from a base car with just the vin. I thought you needed RPO codes. I thought the TA was the only firebird with vin number identifier.

The Formula Source page lists only S and W as codes on third gen firebirds from the years 87 through 92 S = Firebird or Formula and W = Trans Am. I am still fairly certain that you can only tell if a car is a formula from looking at the RPO Codes.

I don't think the car in the ad is a true formula. I also don't think that Fyrelance's car is a true formula. Although its a nice car just the same. If I was to buy either car someone would have to show me the RPOs before I would pay for them. There are mechanical differences between formulas and regular firebirds that may convince me also. The steering boxes are different, the sway bars are different but in either instance the RPO would say WS6, otherwise its just a firebird with the LO3.

I stand corrected about Fyrelance's car. I went to his website. If it is orignally equipped with the TPI than it is likely a Formula. (If the motor has been swapped though, my original position stands.

lots of formulas came with LO3's. They arent that uncommon actually. Heck, you could order a formula with GFX if you wanted to also.

Mine certainly came with an LO3. The RPO's tell the tale, though. Even if it is real ( unlikely ), who would want it now?
