I'm looking to do some little apperance mods to my car, some small subtle ones, like clear side markers, removing side trim and such, could you guys and girls give me some other ideas to do, something that'll make it look kinda stock still, but better, the more ideas the better
Thanks JimmyG
Thanks JimmyG
Polish your taillghts with a plastic rubbing compound. Car wax worked fine for me.
Without knowing what you have already done, here are some:
* Clean/Polish (or replace) parking lamps
* Clean/Polish taillights
* Replace Headlights if old
* Clean and Paint Calippers front (and back if rear disks)
* Clean and paint rear drums (flat black looks good!!)
* Replace (or paint) Grille if necessary
* Nice exhaust tips
These are all little things that doesn't cost an arm and a leg..

You could add some factory foglights if your car wasnt originally equiped. Remove the old wax from your body lines with a soft toothbrush. If your windows have small scratches, there are kits available to buff them out. Replace or repaint (or powder coat) your door locks. Use touch up paint in combination with wetsanding, buffing compound, and a mechanical buffer to remove chips. This requires a good deal of skill to do correctly.
Use meguires to restore your rubber seals and windshield surround. Use claybar on the paint. Straighten your body lines...hood lines in particular. Sometimes, it's just a matter of straightening the hood that wasnt installed with care.
There are boat loads of interior tricks. Try using the same taillight buffing method to shine your interior panels. This is of particular interest for firebird consoles and radio pod panels. The 3M compound works well on plastics.

Thanks for the ideas, but I'm not looking to restore the car, I'm looking for things to do to it to slightly set it off from the stock look, like clear side markers, painting the calipers and such
Polish your plenum and runners

Yeah deck the motor out
Bling Bling
Polish your rims, tint the windows, and make everthing look better than new.

There's a guy in my home town that has the Z-28 style grille insert (with the opennings for fog lamps), and he put that crome mesh grille material in the fog light opennings (kind of like everybody puts on their little S-10 Extremes). It looks sweet!!! I'd do it too, but it just so happens that his car is the exact same plum color as mine, and I don't want them to look just alike. But, it looks great, and I think he only spent about $40 for the material. Also, if you haven't yet, think about blacking out the turn signals. I made my blackouts from tinted lexan, but there's a spray called "Nightshade" that's available from Summit Racing that I hear works really well. Search the boards for "turn signal blackouts" to find out more. I hope this helps.

this is what ive done so far, keep in mind that i like what ive done and others might not. so far ive had the window tinted with 5% in the back and 15% on the sides, got some sweet blue foglights, spray tinted my front and side turn signals, and the taillights with that nightshade spray tint, got flowmaster dual exhaust with 2 fat tips sticking out the back. i also have 205/55/15 tires in the front and 225/65/15's in the back to give it that aggressive hot rod look, and thats about it for exterior mods, if you want some interior mods just let me know, i got a bunch
Well I suppose I should list what I already have and plan on doing
Have: Painted Amber part of tailights red, cleaned everything up, used clear bulbs in the front turn signals, polished T-tops, taken off fog lights (didn't work and I like the look better without them) removed washer fluid container, removed some of the AIR equipment.
Planned: New paint, polish rims, polish plenum and runners, remove side moulding (maybe), clear side markers, and hopefully turn the interior to all black instead of the black/grey combo.
Thanks for the ideas again, and yes, interior mods would be nice as well.

Nice and I just realized you got the easy rims to polish up.

I thought these were the hard ones to polish, or were you being sarcastic? Originally posted by 85SportCoupeto89RS

Should I paint the inserts red to match my car or black?, I got some red dupli-color metal cast lying around, wonder what that'd look like?
Just keeping your car clean can make a dramatic improvement.

No, 85SportCoupeto89RS wasn't being sarcastic, he was being very truthful. Click on his link and go to the bottom, those are the hard wheels to polish. I started on a set of those same Z28 wheels myself, and truse me I would love to do a set of your wheels over mine.
Anyways, I don't know what color your car is, but what about getting a set of Z28 rocker emblems that contrast the color of your car. I've got red tags on my blue car and I've also seen a black Z with red tags and they both look really good.
Nobody said it yet, but you could paint your wheel wells black if they aren't in good shape. You could also look into shaving your antenna too, not too many people have done that. Shaving your door handles is another mod that is not done that often but always looks great.
