Painters. need some help with my idea.
I am looking for a paint that has a flip to it from Black, to dark purple, to a midnight blue. A friend I work with has been trying many formulas and we have come up short. I want the car to look black and fade into a purple or dark blue in the light. We had a color close, but it flipped into a purple then looked a real crappy brown. I've looked at all the Dupont Chromalusion samples and everything is too wild.
My friend got a pretty good look from tinting the clear coat with some purple and pearl, but I am not a big fan of alot of pearl and that was what was causing the color change.
I have some House of Kolor samples coming tomorrow to the shop and was wondering if anyone could suggest other brands of flip flop paint.

PPG has some new color changing paints out. I was thinking about using them, but they cost a lot, about $500 a quart. but i think it is going to be hard to find a color that only changes that little bit, im sure it can be done, but will take a lot of trial and error. most of the color changing paint i have seen change from a medium blue, to purple, then to black.
BTW...i think the new PPG colors are called Prizmatics(sp?) but i am not sure, its been a few weeks since i have been to the paint shop.
