any such thing as an electro luminecient panel?

Is there anything out there like a flexable, cuttable sheeting of some sort that lights up when it gets an electric charge??? If so how bright can it get? Bright enough for say, tailights??? If nothing like this exists, does anyone make panels of LED's that are ready to go out of the box. I dont wana say what I want to use it for cause I want it to be a surprise when im done, but im mainly looking for a light source big enough to fill the whole area in a set of camaro tailights that will be able to function as tailights and brake lights. I just kinda gave away my idea but whatever. Thanks for the help.

they sell el in sheets, but as far as i know el materials have a short life span, they start dimming and deterioarting in light after about 20 hours. I could be wrong but thats all i remember from computer modding.
