Stock Valve Covers

Hey, I have spent the money for this month and have just a little bit left over. I am changing the intake out this weekend, and the manifold is going to be powerder-coated. I wanted to know if I can polish up the stock valve covers, the same way that the intake can be polished.

Anyone try this? I was going to just paint them, but I would rather have the shine.

Never tried that one, I am not sure that they are aluminum. I would suggest buying a new set, there are many choices for centerbolt valve covers.

If they're stock they are steel; paint or powdercoat are your only options. Barnett Performance has a good selection of aluminum centerbolt covers, and they're pretty reasonable too...call Cliff at 800-533-1320 ext 229.

Duh, sorry guys. I knew that they were steel, just wasn't thinking. I could get new ones, but they wouldn't be here by Saturday. I might stop by the speed shop on thursday and see what they have, but they are mostly into top fuel, no2, and sport compact. They do have some mustang stuff, but not much for the f-bodies.

Try your parts dept at your local Chevy dealer. My local dealer has all sorts of genuine Chevrolet valve covers, intake manifolds, heads and other goodies on display . Bought a pair of the polished aluminum tall valve covers from them a couple of years ago.
