I actually painted mine flat black. I went and bought some sot of "RUST PAINT" that was flat black. I figured that would last in the wheel wells. I must say with the wheel wells all black again, it does make the car look 100x better, not like before when there was permanent brown mud in some spots.
I first cleared the wheel wells with varsol until they were pretty much black, then painted about 2 layers, with the wheel wells all taped up.

Ill bet that stuff they paint the heaters that go in the chimney of houses would do a terific job and it would last a long time. I think it is called stove black.

I removed the plastic inner fenders and hit them with a rattle can after cleaning them.

I used 3&M undercoating on mine....left a rough surface so nothing really sticks to them, the water does stick, doesnt fade so far......and also left a shiny finish. Hope this helps.

Hit mine with Duplicolors sound eliminator and then with semi gloss black. Gloss was unnatural looking, but flat too dull! Made a big difference.

I'm using undercoating on mine also. I took them off, cleaned them, and sprayed a few coats of undercoat on, they'll go back on when the new paint goes on the car.

i took the pressure washer to them. let them dry.......then jacked up the car and hit each one with "Rubberized Black Undercoating"......works good!
