Powerwashing best way to clean underneath car?

Does anyone here make a big deal about keeping the underside of their car nice and clean? What's the best way to do it? Just a good ole power wash?

I give it a good shot underneath it every time I wash it. All that road sand and dirt cant be good for it.

does anyone like..."detail" under there and try to make it all pretty. i wouldn't assume so since its gonna get dirty no matter what. i usually try to give it a good spray when i wash it too.

Pressure washers are great for that; you'd be amazed at all the crap that builds up under even a claen car over the years. Just put it up on jackstands and blast away!

is there anything under there that the water can hurt? i mean i know it gets wet when it rains, but you arent blasting it away with a pressure washer. I wouldnt think that there would be, but i figured i would ask before i went out and did this too.

On the underside, I don't know of anything you could hurt, other than taking off some old undercoating maybe. The engine is ok too, as long as its not hot...just be sure to cover the distributor, and TPS if equipped. I'd try to stay away from electrical components in general.

Mine is about as good as a daily driver can be. I cleaned it up and soundproofed it. Now it has a layer of black satin black over the soundproofing. Before a show I wash the car and spray up under it with the hose. Knocks off the loose stuff. I got a long and short handled brush the reach up under to get whats more stubborn.

With the satin black, 90% of the dirt just brushes off at the shows. I usually end up laying on my back by the car... I hit the underside with a brush, then the red SFCs and red suspension I use a bottle of water and a rag and just wipe it down & hit any stubborn stuff with degreaser.

It will be interesting when we finish up the underside though... I will have a red tranny with a chrome pan...the aluminum drive shaft is polished, the torque arm is red and the 3.73 rear will be red with a chrome diff. cover. Plus all the red suspension pieces!

Park your car in the middle of your front yard,
then put the sprinkler underneath (watch clearance),
turn on, and let it clean the underside of your car while you water the grass.

Pacer

PS: You may want to set it higher on blocks

or you could put boards down with ramps on them, then drive up the rams and put a sprinkler underneath.. thats a good idea!

but if your car underside is really dirty, then you will end up getting grease and grime in your front lawn and then you will have a big patch of dead grass.
