got a paint quote today....

hey all I've been planing on painting the car for a while. while I thought about doing a macco job, it's just not for me. well I went down to the local chevy dealer. I asked for a quote for a paint job on the IROC. well for a paint job and to fix a dent in the hood and some stuff in the rear bumper (the rest of the car is good) the guy said just under $2,000. not bad for a dealer paint. well looking at the quote I saw that they included all decals being replaced. I said knock off all decals and just give me the car back naked with no markings. the Quote droped to about $1,500!!!!! wow!!!! not bad. talk about over pricing just for decals.....I beleve decals go for about $200, so thats $300 I am saving. there is some other stuff that they want to charge that I can do myself>>>> 1 hr labor to remove the louvers!!!!! yea right...... any way I know nothing about paint. I beleve it is a great deal. what can I ask? ie. clear coat? how many coats is good? and what's good paint to get? i just want GM black. and would they strip and paint, or just buff and paint? thanks.....

That is not bad! The Dealership my dad works at wanted about 5 to 7 grand but the are one of the best paint and body shops around. They even get other than Gm to work on because they are known for really good work. Either way that price sounds really good and most if not all the time they will warranty the work for a while.
