An hour and a half wasted?....

I think not....

1 down and three to go.

This is the set I just recently got to replace the others I screwed up and sold...

Did you sand blast the wheels first before you started polishing?

I want to know what you used.

Thanks guys.... The wheels were sandblasted when I got them. I have never blasted wheels before polishing, but it makes for a clean slate. I would like to have the next set blasted with a finer grit, that should make the process alot faster.

LOL, you beat me to the post Joshua.... Anyways, I have been polishing for years, so I have all the correct equipment for this. Believe it or not, this is a half a$$ job, they could look better if I spent more time with them, but I have too many projects going on to take any more time now.... Maybe in a few weeks, I'll hit them again and make sure they are 100%

Here is my last set..... Really wish I had kept them. Oh well, I had 4 hours into each of the old rims and this is the shine they had after roughly 9 years, never re-buffed other than by hand one time.

I have been building a swing set for our twins, so I haven't got much time to polish the ones you had. And I have to build an engine for my brother in law, so it will be awhile before I do anything. I did take one off and went over it with a die grinder and Tripoli, White Rouge, and then some Mothers, but I want to do it again. This is the only pic I have of the rim I did.

What happened to the center cap? The one flew off while driving, that is why the one has polished aluminum in it instead of the IROC logo....

Dang, you did a great job. I cant belive you can make that happen in 1.5 hrs! So what does that type of work run for a set of 4 wheels? Say...some firehawk rims. I really dont know if it would be best to polish or chrome dip them. Any input?

Again, great job. I purchased some tripoli, white rouge, and other compounds the other day which I have yet to try out. I would be really interested to know your process if it is not top secret.

Ack! Damn those things look sweet. I wish I had the right tools to do something like that. I know I spent way less polishing my wheels, but If I could buy the right equipment to do some polishing like that, I'd be all over it.

You got me beat.:hail: :hail:

That looks awesome.

Can you give us a list of what tools and sanding things we need to get to do this?
My Formula wheels look like crap and polishing them up would make them look sweet.

That REALLY makes me want to have my rear 16s cut and an extra 1.5-2" welded in so I can run 275s or 295s on the rear and then polish them up instead of buying some 15x10 pro stars. Sadly, I don't know anyone who can do it locally and I'd really rather not send them off to have them done. Anybody know anyone within 2 or 3 hours of me that can splice wheels? Those do look great though.

Later,
Harry

It has been discussed at length several times on the boards. Go to this link and read ALL of the links and projects below the sub-section called "Buffing Aluminum." You will see the best results if you follow these steps and reading all the projects will give you some ideas about how to fine tune the process for your application.

I was kinda bein' funny about the sticky. I love to see the pics, but the "how'd he do that?" question is kinda old!!!

I'm gonna polish my Iroc rims soon. As soon as the other hundred and one things get done!!!

I know, I was just ribbin ya a little. I think I tend to come across as an a-hole when I'm really just trying to be sarcastic. There are an aweful lot of people here that do go about it the wrong way though.

Ive seen the polishing process discused b4 but i never seen a list of tools u need at least a good one. All i want is a list of the tools i need like the sanding wheels u need and the polishing pads and where to get them? Should i use the big buffer i use to buff the car or the drill what?? Maybe if some1 had a pic of all the tools they used that would help alot!! Ru-qwik have ne pix of the tools you used thats awsome results in that time.
