last hood question

i was told that you can adjust the hood latch up and down (the one's that bolted onto the car), so i just went out and slid it all the way up, and now the hood locks fine.

my question now is, how do you transfer over the spring from the old hood to the new one? i couldn't figure how to get the old one off, and while i see a spot to put it on the new one, i don't know how it attatches. i can't open my hood now without having someone pull up on the hood while i pull on the latch inside the car

Im not sure about our hoods, but on my other car the spring just unscrews from the hood.
