who makes tailight blackouts for Trans Ams??
I tried to place an order for blackouts and they said that they are not for trans ams just firebirds. I didnt know there was a difference. Where can I get "Trans AM" blackouts for my 88 GTA?

where did you try to order them?
i'm pretty sure the taillights are the same, but not sure why the part #'s always say not trans am, part # 034 right?
anyone know for sure if it works on t/a's too? i sold my firebird that had them on b4 checking on my GTA

Taillight blackouts
A few alternative blackouts, although you'll have to find some way to remove the "bubble" outer section on your taillights, or switch them out for '82-'84 flat ones. Just a word of warning: you'll be looking at pages devoted to stuff for Knight Rider cultists, so beware...

try a local automotive store....i got mine from autozone for like $60- i dont know if they still carry them or not (i heard talk about them not being sold in stores now but thats not a sure thing)..anyway most places like that can tell you where to locate them.
I can buy the blackouts from many places the whole thing is they say "no TA". You said you got them from autozone. Do you have a part number? Also do you have a firebird or TA?

check out the other post on this, they only say "no ta" because the lights are darkened already, the covers do fit, they're just trying to steer you away from having them because they illegal in most states.

sorry but i cant remember ever seeing a TA with blackouts on them.....did you try maybe ebay?
I think, by "darkened," hovrbord98 meant the smoked taillights that were available on T/As starting in '82. I may be wrong...
Check out http://www.knightreplicas.com/exteri...tt_and_ka.html , scroll down to "Taillights"...
And there are all kinds of T/As with (aftermarket) blackouts, it's just that most of 'em belong to KR cultists... but a full blackout, stock? It's not something I'd see GM offering...

smoked, darkened, same thing.
the point is there is no separate part # for a T/A because they do have the same size rear taillights. i believe it was like 034 that should work for all.
