It still needs some more done to it, but for now this will do.
Also since I was cleaning the car, I figured I'd use Zaino for a change on the iroc and well. It didn't make the paint swirl like it did the last time I used it

I can't wait to see what it looks like whenever we get some tires for the Ronal rims (the free ones at the gathering)
Oh and if it doesn't sit the way taht I want to when the Ronal rims go on... Can you say... bye bye one coil of the springs

that looks good but all I would do for rims would be take them off the car and paint them black instead of gunmetal along with the centers. then the car would be sweet as is.

that's spraypaint?
my big block hood is still gray, i wasn't gonna worry about it till i got the car repaint, but i might have to spray it myself to tide me over till then....what paint is that? what steps did you take to do it? i'm thinking sand, prime (with not-spray-paint-primer) and then spraypaint? let us know!

Noo, it's not can spray paint. I have a 33 gallon Craftsman air compressor and a cheap Craftsman HVLP gun (remember ya get what ya pay for when it comes to spray guns like this)
Heres prudy much what I did.
I sanded the whole hood with 320 grit wet first.

When the water dries, I taped off as much as the car as it hought that was needed.. Welll umm yeah, try to tape off the whole car or atleast throw a sheet over most of it. Damn over spray. I spent most of a day buffing the car out getting it all off.

After I taped off the hood , I went over the hood with some cleaner that you can get at the body shop.
When I was done that, I sprayed the hoood with some primer. Reason for the dark grey primer is well, I used a black color coat. So if I got a chip in the paint or whatever, it shouldn't be as noticable.

When the paint flashed (5-10 min depending on weather blah blah blah) I started sanding with 400 wet on a 3" x 5" rubber block to get the primer flat as I possibly could. It takes a bit to get it done, but you'll evnetually get there. If you go through the primer to metal, or the paint below it. Don't worry about it. You canput on another coat of primer like I did..

After I sanded with the 400, I sprayed another coat of primer. Oh, before I sprayed each coat of paint, I wiped the hood down with some cleaner. I do this before every time I spray some paint.
When that coat of primer flashed over, I sanded the hood with 600 grit wet, using the same thing as I did above. Making sure it is as flast as possible.

Alright, after the 600 wet sanding was done I sprayed the color coat.. Remember what I said about you get what ya pay for when ya buy a HVLP gun... This is why.......

Notice how much the paint is orange peeled? It's either the gun I have really sucks, or that I just canbt set up a gun worth a damn. I'm really thinking the latter of the two.
Ok after ya spray the black paint, you aren't supposed to sand this. I didn't. After ti flashed over, I sprayed 3 coats of clear on it so I could wet sand it.

As for how long it took me.. Well about 8-9 hours to paint the hood with going through all the steps. Then with the wetsanding and buffing that was prolly another 5 hours or so. It takes a while, but it is much better than what it looked like before.

wow... now i am really inspired, i was about to give up on my car today... but after seeing this i really want to get mine done, my car's paint was ok, it was the stock black, with yellow stripes, but it was really dull, so i decided to get a paint job, this time, all black-no stripes, so i removed the stripes, noticed a few chirps on the doors, stripped down the doors, saw a couple of scratches on the hood, tried to fix them, ended up taking the entire hood down to metal, scoop and everything, then i went to remove the eagles on the sides, and now i am down to the gas tank lid, lol, i know i didn't have to do all that, but taking it down to metal seemed like a good idea, i dunno... whatever... hehe, looks great man, i will make sure to follow some of your tips when i start painting some of my stuff...
