i need help, i want to paint my car myself...
well i definetly need a new paint job, and i really dont want to spend loads of cash to have it professionally done. would it turn out almost, if not just as good as a pro's work? what excact supplies would i need? how would i go about painting, how many coats of primer/finishing paint? would i have to use a clear coat after i am done? thanks alot!

There's a lot of reading up you should do on paintjobs, buy the books they offer, go to body shops, talk to bodymen etc. The prep work is what will make or break a car under normal circumstances, the shot will be important too, but a ok shot and a great shot aren't to terribly far apart. I'd say, learn what you can and go from there. my best friend is painting my car, he's leraned his stuff, and all i'll need to buy is paint (300-350 bux for Dupont) but on the other hand, he's got the satajet gun (500 bux) a davillbliss gun whcih we use for clear (150-200bux) along with a crappy sears gun for primer (50 bux or something), so after having all the guns, then buying sand paper or an inline sander, plus a million other tool i'm not thinking of, you'll have paid a pretty penny...you can use one gun for an entire car, and change the tip sizes however, which'll give u good results, but having job specific pieces leads to paintjobs that look better than what pros do....guess it'll also help that my friend has a custom company.
