i own a 1988 chevy camaro I-roc z28 and am in the process of repainting the front end and rear quaters. i was wondering if anyone could tell me why the paint gets oxadation so quickly from the sun. is the cars stock paint water based? could someone give me some tips on repainting the car with perhaps a better paint. if i bought the paint myself and had the tools how much would it cost me to repaint? just the price of paint?.
Another victim of the EPA approved paint system that made 3rd gen Camaro/Firebirds at the now closed Van Nuys Ca assemly plant. The best factory paint was from the Norwood oh Plant until it closed after the 87 model run.

do you consider 14 years "quickly"? If you've got the original paint, and the car has been outside for its whole life... then it's time.
