I think these rims have been plated.They are IROCs and it looks like the factory color(gold) is starting to come through.I am not the original owner.I don't know when they were chromed but they are off an '88 IROC. I dont have the moola to get them re-chromed.Cant I just strip the chrome off and paint them?What is need to get the chrome off easily if possible?Thanks guys!

chrome won't necessarily flake off. do you have a picture?

typically the metal is stripped so if you see a color underneath the chrome that again tells a different tale. are you sure it just wasn't painted and is now pealing? they have many processes to finish metal in things similar to chrome.
