Window tint removal?? HELP!!
What is the best (and easiest) way to remove window tinting? The previous ower put 2 layers of tint on my rear window.... The first layer peeled off without a problem. The layer unerneath is another problem. I went to the auto parts store and the sold me their "miracle" spray for tint removal
As you can probably guess, it worked for crap! It took me close to 45 minutes to remove a 1 square foot area with a razorblade
Any suggestions on taking the stuff off with a little less effort? All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!
I know what you mean, tint is a real bitch to get off. BUT there is something called aircraft stripper that is used to take clear coat off our rims, this stuff should work on tint no problem. I would give it a try on a small area first, the aircraft stripper is allot easier to clean that the tint itself.
I got the stuff from carquest. Hope this helps..

OK question on any product somebody might bring up on this. How would you apply it? Just spray it on? Won't it run and drip on things and ruin carpet weather stripping etc. I imagine you could lay plastic over everything. So maybe a little more detail in a response as far as process and time involved instead of just try so and so product.
i had to remove tint from my side windows a few times now. i just spray some window cleaner on it that has amonia on it and than i take a horizontal razor blade that has a holder and i just go ape on it. takes like 5mins a window

when I did mine I just used a single edge razor blade(like a druggy uses) in one of those cheapie like $2.50 holder deals you find at any home depot or auto parts place around where they keep their paint at.

I've got tomorrow off, so I'll give the ammonia thing a try. If that doesn't work, I'll be taking a trip to the scrap yard and get a new back window for $15.00
Thanks for all the tips everyone!!! I'll keep you all posted as to how it goes!
Thanks for all the tips everyone!!! I'll keep you all posted as to how it goes! Try soapy water. It tends to make the blade slide easier on the film. Window cleaner tends to dry up faster making it harder to scrap the film off. The trick is to spray the film and let it soak in. The soapy water will soften the film.
