Paint Job Opinion...is this estimate reasonable
Paint Job Opinion...is this estimate reasonable
I have a 87 IROC with over 214,000 orig miles on orig everything (yes it's still runnin strong). I have the faded 5 tone RED color on the car and I am thinking about getting it painted.
Here are some points that I need to consider.
1.) The car will be parked outside mostly (unless I decide to get a cover).
2.) There are a lot of graval trucks and crappy roads where I live
3.) I know there are a lot of talented people on this board that know how to paint their cars for less that $150----- I AM NOT ONE OF THEM
I was quoted $700 for the "Premier" middle of the road job and it comes with a 4 year warranty. This includes all body work (2 door dings on front fenders) and all masking and clear coat. The guy told me that he had the same job put on this Chevy Blazer parked on the street (4 years ago) and it looks pretty good minus some paint chips. Nevertheless I could barely see a little orange peel...so it must have been the middle of the road job.
p/S I would love to have a $1500-2500 paint job put on the car...but due to the fact it's a daily driver..sits out in the sun all day, and gets a lot of gravel truck action...I would prefer to keep the price/job reasonable. Any opinions????? Does $700 and some change sound unreasonable for a middle of the roader paint job???

it doesnt sound too bad to me....if you do get it done then get a car cover for it....theres not much you can do since its a daily drive about the paint chips....mine has a few too.....if you must drive on the cr@ppy roads just dont go like a bat outta h#ll on them, same way with the gravel roads
