Its getting to be that time again .....who's got some big winter projects planned

Well , after wrecking my white 90 Iroc I went back to 4th gens for awhile . I just sold my TA convertible and Im building a ground up 3rd gen over the winter , and the process Im rescuing a 3rd gen . I just bought a non t-top 91 black 305 RS with 198,000 miles that is rust free for $800 . Can u say perfect project car . I'm stripping the car down to bare shell and starting all over .

On the appearence end of things , its gonna be Sunset orange metallic or C5 Nassau Blue . I like both colors soo much I dunno how Im gonna decide . The car will definately have a SS hood , 87-90 Iroc spoiler with the brake light in it , gonna keep the 91 GFX . I modding a 3rd gen grill to mimmick the style of the Wings west grill for a 4th gen and it will be body color . Wheels Ive pretty much decided are gonna be either 96 Vette grandsports or black powdercoated 17" Zo6 wheels with a 275/315 tire combo . As far as lighting goes Im gonna be using clear lens headlight housing conversions like on ChevyKen's vert , with real HID lighting . For fogs Im gonna use PIAA's #1500XT . Their the same basic shape as the stock fog lights but with a clear lens to match the headlights . Its should make the front look much more with the times without changing the way the car looks at all , headlamp buckets will be satin black like factory . I'm probably gonna end up shaving off all the emblems , at most I'd use a body color 4th gen Z emblem on the rear bumper in the stock location .

As far as the rest car goes .....my parts car is a wrecked LS1 f-body that will be left as a bare shell when Im done I'm not going as far Tim Lane did with the front suspension , but I will be using the entire interior , ALL the wiring , rear end , gas tank , fuel and brake lines , front brakes .

I did a photoshop of what I want it to look like when Im done . I used Crazy Hawaiians car ...its the only SOM 3 gen , Ive ever seen .

So , anyone else have big plans over the winter ????

heh my plans for the winter consist of actually building up a 350 to replace my 305 tpi to be put in next summer. car's going off insurance in 2 weeks anyways for when i go away to school so i can't really do much with it anyways.

i'm building a 350, have all the parts, picking up block from machine shop today. interior is completely stripped except dash, with all the new interior in my basement. those both should be done within the next month or so, so that leaves new paint and rims, which will have to wait until next spring. in the mean time, i will be getting hawks new notchback, ascd ram air 1 hood, the 5" spoiler from the 88 firebird special appearance package (if i can find one), custom mirrors, shaved antena, flush door handles, some kind of headlight mod, and i will find a way to mold the front license plate into the front bumper. too bad i don't have a garage to work in, because our 2 car garage has to be filled with masonry crap that will never be used again (father was a mason, isn't doing it anymore).

Sounds pretty cool.... it's not time to start talking about winter yet though... I'm still working on my mods for this year.

And I have to say that black wheels are the worst band wagon trend of all time.

With any luck, I can get a beater car so I can drop my 350 in this winter. I'm not getting my hopes up, cause with college starting up again in a month, and my current lack of employment, its looking kinda bleek.

in the process of a full 1le brake upgrade, started the body work from the lady hitting me, finally decided on a LT1/T56 swap. 9 bolt rebuild with 3.45s or 3.73s, and the usual real suspension upgrades.

If I have money after tuition, lol, I'll be painting and putting on a new door, front bumper skin and assembly, Ram Air II hood, some suspension work and maybe start the interior swap. But, since I don't have a garage, it'll have to be 30+ degrees out if I plan on doing anything, lol.

Putting on my new fenders, hood, and doors next week. Will then be sending out to body shop to have bodywork, new quarters welded on, and paint done to it.

For paint I am doing a nice, bright red (no metallic) for everything. On the front of the car, it will have long thin ghost flames in a slightly darker red metallic. The flames will stop at the ends of the front fenders...maybe onto the front of the doors.

After that, I'm buying 16x8 Torque Thrust D's...and polishing the lips on them.

I think it will look very mean

hmmm... I suppose a v6 to 305 would be connsidered a big winter prject, wouldn't it...
I scored a perfectly good wreaked '91 305 RS doner car for $125, engine runs awesome. So, we're gonna swap the v6 into the RS and the v8 into my firebird. I'm also gonna have some SFC's welded on to maintain my incredible body stiffness. Best of all, I'll have a car that runs!
Appearance, eh? ... maybe a 2" cowl hood, maybe some paint... yah...

Why not 17's? I think they would look a whole lot better.

My plan for the winter is to buy parts to put on in the spring. I'd like to get a 3.42 rear end, new weatherstripping, new power window motors, new power lock solenoids, new door handles, get the nose ready for paint, and new tires and work on tuning issues to get the car running better. But it all depends on money and if I can get a winter beater and have a place to store my car.

I have a few plans set up for this winter. I have a 100 shot NOS kit ready to go on, but because of my recent rebuild i chose not to put it on quite yet, prolly gonna end up being a winter project. Im also finally installing a set of headers, i decided to go with full cusotm exhaust, and i'm gonna go with some headman long tube headers. The body of the car is also going to be getting a fresh coat of paint, same color scheme, just new paint. The car had a few minor flaws and its time to fix those, not bad for 12 year old paint i guess Other mods will include a/c delete pulley, msd 6AL ignition, and a 4pt roll cage, i cant wait i just hope all yuor projects go smooth, i know mine never do

Camaro:
1. Getting a motor in, which im close to getting one for free or close to it.
2. Fix the outside problems. Ie: Windshield, Hi-Rise spoiler and take it to my buds work and paint it over one weekend.
3. Finish the roll bar installation and get the interior up to speed.

GTA:
1. Straighten the front of it out
2. Clean up the engine bay
3. Paint that when the front is all fixed.

Dude, that's nothing. I've got 6 years on ya and your car looks way better than mine already.

I ended up doing projects on my '66 this summer/fall, so this winter/spring I will finish my flush doorhandle project and get the car painted Corvette Admiral blue. I've got to get a 4th gen rearend under it to go with my WS6 rims and fork out the cash for new 275/40's. All new weatherstripping and installation of the black interior will about finish it off.

Yes, I have some big plans brewing, whether I get to it this winter is questionable. Its going to be quite surprising what I have planned now, even surprising myself, if thats possible.

I'm still working on and driving my winter project from last year LOL Was hoping to get the 350 in this month but transmission problems yet again set my plans back That happend last year too when the stock tranny went out. New engine I'm guessing might be in the car the month of October. Other than the new engine, 4th gen seats are a maybe, new dashpad and some suspension work.

Also, getting ready to put in a new 700 to handle the dreams i have of in store after the 305 leaves the fenders... that or rebuild the 305 Willie style and put a sc on it and complete my dreams of a sweet cruzer...

School is sooo good for me. I'm working, yet spending NO money. So by xmas I should be getting the recaros redone, new exhaust for both 3rd gens, probably hookers on the Daytona and 3" borla w/ a cutout on the bird and hedmans [jet coated, or por15ed, dependin on how it holds up with my test-set =)] Then by spring I should have enough for the showroom paintjob for the daytona and the Z06s for the bird =D Lots of plans, and should be able to pull it off before May. Woo!
