The line has been crossed........This is just TOO much

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2428209401

A damn body kit to make our cars look like a VIPER.......

For the love of ***

This is just too far, i understand the whole lambo-look body kit of the EVO, but with this you are trying to make your car look like a Viper........What's next making a body kit to make our car look like a corvette?

I don't get it....

Opinions, Comments, you are welcome to share.....

And in case you don't see it right away in the auction pictures...

I have circled what looks like a dash conversion piece as well....

Gotta love that clever design they made for the gauges, they probally spent days designing it.....

For those people who like the looks of the viper, but like the price of an f-body (especially one with a crapped-out body).. this seems to be an attractive option.

It looks like its well done - which I say without seeing it actually mounted on the car... so I don't think theres anything terribly wrong with it at all - cept the dash... ew.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not doing it to my car, nor would I ever do it to any f-body that I find... but I am one of the people that wants to do an EVO conversion one day.

thats my

Somebody needs to get a four banger Camaro and do that conversion. The slowest (almost) Viper in history!! There would be tons and tons of r*cers running around thinking they're able to beat Vipers in their Civics. Wait...I don't guess that'd be any different than how it is now. Never mind.

I am highly opposed to any car that has a kit to make it look like a more expensive car like a Ferrari, lamborghinni, and even this Viper. Only kit cars I approve of are the ones that look like nothing else on the planet.

The worst I have seen is a Mercedes SL convertible kit for a Mustang. Very Horrible.

I would like to have a Viper like hood for my Firebird, but other than that, I highly dissapprove of the Viper kit.

No matter how much the kit looks like a Viper, it will always be cheap imitation of the real thing. I would be embarrassed to drive anything less than the real thing.

Why would anyone try so hard to make their car look like a far superior car!?? That's just beyond me!:lala:
I don't mind of a more aggressive look for our cars, but to make it look like a toatlly different car, I'm kinda weary of that.

i don't really think it need be taken as serious as all that.. not everyone is so into cars that thinks it a crime against nature to have a little fun... after all.. its only a matter of 500 bucks.

I was under the impression that that kit was made to go over a C4 'vette.... but either way, it's not something I would ever be into.

So what ? Who cares.
Some of you people take these mass produced turds (f-bodies) and put them on way to high of an ivory tower (yes, I love my 'bird but, still...).
Realize, to alot of people, they are just another p.o.s. on the street and the base for something they see as better.
Loosen your panities. It's not like someone is out in your driveway trying to do it to your car.
Variety is the spice of life, even if it's not to your taste, live with it.

I guess it depends on where you draw the line. The line that some of us have drawn was already crossed by your car long ago.

That's true, BUT when you cross the line that i have drawn, then you know you have gone overboard, because i draw the line farther then others.....

That body kit took a swan dive over the line i drew

And FLYNLOW, for you to post that.....
I'm not a huge fan of kit cars, there is a difference between kit cars and custom cars, mine is custom, i'm not trying to pass it off as a lambo, corvette, viper, etc....

If you are gonna get a kit car, at least make it a kit of an exotic car, or something custom......

The simple fact that i said you are crossing the line, is that you are taking a the camaro, and making a kit car of a common car, i don't know about up north, but i see Vipers all the damn time, what i don't understand is why make a kit car that is pretty much close to a normal common car........ they are only like $40,000 used, it's not like they are exotics...

I'm not commenting on the style, telling people not to do it, or anything like that.......Just the fact that you go through all this trouble for a common car is beyond me....

All I gotta say is... why?

Oh well, opposed as I am to turning a Bowtie into a Mopar, at least it doesn't look as bad as the kit to turn a '84-96 Corvette into a Ferrari Testarossa.

1. Think of the look on peoples face when they think you have a viper, you pop your hood and theres a small block chevy under the hood.

2. At least people are making stuff for thirdgens.

3. I would'nt do it.

Yet another kit for our cars that most people wouldn't have the motor to back up the looks normally. But as long as it's not a Ford anything, I don't mind it lol. Like the Evo kit, if I had a base that had a lot of body work needed, it would be a good cover up after getting it as straight as possible. Not gonna say if I had one I got for under $500, cause I already have that, lol, and I am NOT putting a kit of any kind on mine, lol.

If it were me buying that, I would at least ditch the dash and get a 4th gen interior instead. Then a big bad motor to back it up. But by the time you got through all that, you'd have almost the same cash in it as if you were to buy a Viper out right.

I'm not big on making a car something it's not. I agree with most of the replies here.

It seems like a nice kit though. Must take alot of chopping and modification to fit though. Notice in the ad it states that it comes with a factory Viper windshield.......meaning let's go chop the roof off of the donor car. Seems like alot of work!!

i think its kinda tight, but looks like alot of work...

for example wouldnt you have to do a tailight and headlight conversion? what all work would be involved in a project like that?

I remember the old viper motor swap thread. It would go along very well with this body kit.

I greatly dislike things that make your car look faster/better than it really is. This includes most non-functional "performance" mods such as Ram-Air hoods without holes cut and fake drilled rotors and the like. To me, this is just the ultimate example.

Building a SLEEPER is cool, such as having a completely stock looking thirdgen that is streetable and runs 10's. But it's when you reverse that around that it bugs me. Instead of making your car faster than it looks, you make your car look faster than it is. To me it's just another form of r<x>icer syndrome. I'm not saying that kit-cars are r<x>iced-out, I'm simply stating that you're doing the same thing that ricers do with that kit.

With the EVO kit and such, no such car exists and you're not trying to pass it off as something else, so I don't mind it.

Wait... so lemme get this straight.
Buy an F-body. Buy the Viper Body Kit. Buy a Viper Engine. I say go buy a used viper [not that I'd buy a viper anyway]. To each their own when it comes to car tastes, and regardless of how well the kit looks to be made... why go through all the work? buy a real one, save time & maybe $$ Even the exotic kits... its not worth it unless you take it all the way, and by the time you do that... you should have just imported a used one. Don't forget manhour time, even if it is your own. When gauging a project, I calculate how much money I won't make in the free time I'll now spend working on the project. Sometimes it just isn't worth all the trouble. Go legit. Enjoy it legit, and have legit pride. I love my birds and I wouldn't make em anything else.

Funny thing is, someone will put that Viper kit on a half dead Camaro and think he can sell it for, or that it is worth more than twice what that Camaro cost brand new, like those Knight Rider conversions.

yea, but in that sense, the third gen is exotic also...
Viper's arent exotic to us i guess because its American? It doesnt have the finesse that say a ferrari or a lambo might. Its just strait up HORSEPOWER!. More of like a Super Muslce Car.

The third gen IS an exotic here, in a sense. Kinda why I bought it!

I have to say that although the girls and the non-petrolheads in this country go all gooey over the Italian sports cars like Ferrari or Lambourghini, people who are actually into cars give the Viper and the Corvette MUCH more respect. It's the sort of respect that's as much to say, "I prefer the Viper to the Lambo, but I'd never buy one"

And I STILL wouldn't put that kit on my Camaro !

This car can fool even the most ardent Viper aficionado in both appearance and sound. Only by looking under the hood can you tell this isn't an original Viper.
I'm no "Viper aficionado", but I know Vipers have a 200 MPH speedo. And the wheels sure aren't Viper wheels.

Why spend "over $100,000" to make a slower, fake version of a $75,000 car?
