good cleaning products?
Ok I just got a new car. A 2002 Xtreme Blazer. I am looking for some good products to use on it to keep it clean. Right now I use Maquires Gold Class Car wash soap and wax, Whestlys Whitewall Cleaner and Extreme Tire Shine. And then I use Turtle Wax(i think) interior cleaner for the dash. I keep hearing things on Armor All being bad for your car, Is that true? Well, what is the best interior cleaner that you guys have found? I also need to know about a good tire shine that STAYS on your tires not on your paint. thanks for your help. ~Todd

There are so many products out there, it;s nearly impossible to find the best, but there are some good ones out there. The stuff I use, my dad has been using for years so if nothing else, it;s time tested and works.
Car wash - Mequires (if you can find an AMWAY salesman, get you some of thier commercial lusterizer, nothing like it anywhere)
Wax - No paste or liquid. Get a good hardshell carnuaba, Mothers is probably the best. Mothers also sells a clay bar detail kit for $12 that is an excellent once or twice a year must.
Wheels and tires - Scratch the Whestlys. Get some Soft Scrub Gel by the kitchen cleaning products at Wal-Mart....this stiff works miracles on white letters and it won;t scratch your rims if you happen to get it on there. SPeaking of rims, Mequires makes a spray wax that is great for the rims and quick detailing. To get the rims clean from brake dust, use Simple Green about 2 minutes prior to washing the rims. Make sure the rims are wet and cool before spraying on the Simple Green. Armor All is great to use on the tires cause it won;t spin off the tires like 90% of that other crap out there. It may not give you that "wet look" but the compromise is non of that silicone crap all over your rocker panels. Get an old wash cloth, saturate the cloth and apply it to you tires like that. Take a dry towel and go back over it to make sure you got all the access off. Should last awhile assuming it doesn;t rain.
Armor All (Son of a Gun, works the same and is even cheaper) - This is good stuff, main problem is that people use way too much and don't apply it properly, thats when it hurts your car. Take a look at the "ingredients" and you'll know why. You never want to leave so much Armor All on anything that it looks wet. Thats not what Armor All is for. It;s a protectant and if you do it right, you will still get a great shine.

The best degreaser/engine cleaner that I've used so far is Greased Lightning Orange Blast. I couldn't believe how well it cleaned my Vette's engine bay. It even dissolved the crusty grease on the top of my ball joints.
