Trying to prevent swirl marks....
I get swirl marks in both of my vehicles after I wash and wax them and I can't figure out why. I use a brand new wash mit from Wal-Mart (sheep skin or whatever the hell it is, it's the most expensive one and extremely soft), then I dry the car with Crestfield white towels, put on the wax with regular wax applicator pads from Wal-Mart, use Meguiar's gold class wax. Buff off the wax with a white Crestfield towel (read on Zainobros.com). I CAN NOT understand why I am getting swirl marks. What am I doing wrong? Suggestions? I don't want to get a new car in the future and get swirl marks right away. Also, I wash the towels with liquid detergent.

Hmmm....well, usually you get swirl marks in your clear coat if there is ANY trace of dirt or grit in your mit or chamois. When I get swirl marks, I just pull out the Mother's Carnuba Car Wax and buff it out. Buffing with wax SHOULD remove the swirls, if not, the scratches are deeper than you think.
