4th gen wheels

why do you need spacers for the 4th gens mags, exactly? and is it just for the 16 inches wheels or is it for the 15 inches wheels of the early camaro as well?

i don know the diff between 15 and 16 inch 4th gen wheels but you need spacers because the offset of the rim is different than third gens, for example the rear end on a 4th gen is an 1 1/2 wider on each side. you could put a 4th gen rear end in a 3rd and then not need spacer but then you could only run 4th gen rims on the rear . hope that helped.

thanks for the info... yes, it helped... the thing is though that I own both a 3rd and 4th gen bird... and I gotta use the forth gen for winter... to make a long story short... I have winter tires for the 3th gen that I need to put on the fourth... but they are 15 inches... so I gotta find a way to make it fit.. any insight, anyone?

If you need to put the 15" on the 4th gen, besides spacers, you're probably going to have to grind on the calipers to make the wheels fit. It's going to be tight.

Best bet is to find some cheap 4th gen wheels. They seem to be pretty easy to find.

I'm sorry, I know this isn'T really 3rd gen rolated... but the guys on the 4th gens forum aren't of any help... thanks for the info guys... but I already have 15 inches tires... and I don'T want to invest in 16 inches tires... that'd be less money on the 3rd gen for this year

I am pretty sure they will go right on, why don't you just try fitting one on the 4th gen?
i have seen 4th gens at the track running 3rd gen wheels for slicks.

What year is your 4th gen?
I have a 99 LS1 rear end on my car with the LS1 brakes and the 16" wheels barely fit over the caliper.
A lot of guys will grind the fins on the calipers so that they can mount Weld 15" wheels, but they said it takes hours.

Best thing to do is give it a shot if you have both cars there.
