how hard is it to paint car?
i have got my 85z28 running after pulling the engine and doing all kinds of new stuff that i have never tried before and it worked out really well. so now since the car needs paint to comlpete i was wondering that maybe i will buy the gun and stuff needed to paint the car and give it a try. How hard is it to paint the car. i know that prep is worth its weight in gold, and most bad paint jobs are due to bad prep. so should i try it or leave it to the pros?
Painting isnt really all that hard to do. Prep Work is the harder part. For a good paint job, assuming you do not have any of the supplies it will cost a good bit of money to do it right. A good paint gun will set you back at least $300 then paints, primers, sealers will cost more too depending on who and which ones you go with. check out www.paintucation.com he has videos on painting a a bullitin board you can also check out. If you have any painter friends the best thing to do is hang around them and help them out that is the best way to learn

sounds about the way I started on my car three years ago. Painting isnt all that hard it is just a skill that takes practice and a lot of attention to detail depending on how you want your car to turn out. I drove around in primer for 2 years and finally painted it last month. We ( my dad and one of his friends) spent 4 hours doing last minute body work and the car turned out fine. It set me back $400 dollars on paint but in the end it was worth it. I agree with Bryan just hang around peopel who know how to paint and lend them a hand and just for safetys sake have at least one come over and help paint( saves time too)\
