I did mine This is just after polishing it up. Sadly they dont look like that anymore when I destroyed my knee I couldnt do anything to my car so they oxidized during the winter. I'm gonna finish up my 88 16inch Irocs this week and find some skins for them and put em on my 85 sport coupe. Then re polish those 85 Z28 rims back to their old pristine shine

I only use expensive equiptment so I have no clue as to the Hand polishing techniques.
But what I did was use 60 grit sand paper on a block and sanded the flat angled areas on the spokes then I used a da sander with 80 grit everywhere else. Went up to 320 grit and started polishing with my sisal wheels and then sewn buff wheels. I think it took 2 hours per rim like that. If I did the entire rim then it would take 4 or 5 I think. I dont even want to think how long hand polishing takes

Thanks Thats one of the reasons why I decided to start a polishing business As long as the part has good casting "ie no gas, which are air pockets in the aluminum" then I can make em shine almost like chrome.

I used a die grinder in just a few spots, mainly on the curves around the lips of the spokes. What you cant see in that pic is how I angled the top of the spoke to the side walls. I got rid of that goofy step inbetween those two spots. The rest was done with a block sander and da sander, then polishing wheels and compounds.
