Ivana Bltchln camaro!

If I post pix of my 84 Berlinetta, would you guys give me ideas on what to do with it? Right now im just interested in making it look good, and fixing problems with the body and interior. I'll just basically want suggestions, prices, links and pix for whatever mods you might have in mind.

xChRiSx, the most drastic, and popular udgrade is definately adding GFX from an 85-90, or 91-92 model, as well as the nose from the same group of years. You can mix up however you like (ie. 85-90 Side GFX with a 91/92 Front lower GFX, and all the noses are the same [85-90 Z28, IROC, any 91/92 model]). That'd be an awesome improvement. Also, the "Grid" style tail-lights are a popular exchange (from 85-90 IROC's and Z28's, or any 91/92 model). Just some ideas to get you started.

And a late welcome to the board

sounds good, i've thought about doing that. I have a little body work to do before that because this car's been through some crap, potholes and crappy driveways(and when i first got it, a couple curbs=(..)
Anyway I'm gonna check with this guy that lives by me, i see a red iroc, 85 ish, in his yard with grass growing around it, but the body looks way to good to let it die there. I'm gonna see if he'd sell it to me, and i could use it for parts.

That is definitely one avenue to explore, but if I were you, xChRiSx, I'd keep the car as it is now. Personally I just don't see enough nice Berlinettas around. I think they're often overlooked which is a shame because it is a fantastic looking Camaro.

You have a nice car there, I'll be looking foward to seeing future progress pictures - whatever route you take

im basically okay with the outer body, not much that a hammer, bondo, and paint cant fix. my left mirror needs replacing, my left power window seems to be goin out, but im okay with it for now, and my car just doesnt have the power it did when i got it. but im concentratign on the looks right now, not the performance. I'll show you the interior, which i'm wanting to redo completely in a color i like more, like black. i'm hoping the iroc i want to buy will have some decent dark interior, but if it doesnt, i'll have to buy all kinds of carpet and stuff..

Step 4- get a Ricmond 6sp setup

Step 5- back it with some 4.11s

Step 6- paint it jet black

Step 7- send me a check for about $15,000 so i can do the same

i have a set of mint taillights that i can cut you a deal on if your interested, look for them in the classifieds coming up or shoot me an e-mail...

I had a trip to a pick n pull not too long ago and scored an IROC front end and both grid lights, for like $95 bucks. That was a half off day, but they have em a lot...

i was thinking black.. thats why i want to do the interior a similar color. i hate beige or tan or whtever this is. lol Hot Wheels seat covers. besides a soft azz steering wheel color, i say its the dombest thing i've bought for my car, but i couldnt find any plain black or anything and i didnt wanna tear my seats up any more than they were...

ooo look at the part the door covers when it closed... im guessin thats wat the paint looked like at first? i like that alot better than the faded cracked maroon looking paint its got now...

this one shows a couple probs, i dont have those seatbelt clips.... i took them off for the seatcovers, then, i was taking this guy home and he threw one out the window, so i just chunked the other one, its not a necessity... i removed my pneumatic lift rods( cant think of the normal name) troubleshooting some extreme rubbing when i opend the trunk(caused by my first-and only- wreck, backing into a tree, cuz im smart like that. well since thy were out of power anyway i have just left them off..

Keep the outside and dump ALL of your money in 454 F.I. or 502 F.I. and suspension work!

DO NOT CHANGE A THING ON THE EXTERIOR! (except fix it up)

Sleeper of the year award if I've ever seen one before!

Ive got an extra set of the plastic Panels in the rear. but I dont know if I have the sail panels for em, even if I did, you dont want em, lol. The only reason i changed em is the Sail Panels were crap and they didnt fit on my other panels, but mainly it didnt have the place to put the cargo cover...

Mabey lower, I did. I got 1.6 inch lowering springs on EBAY for like 120 with shipping. Improved my Handling a little, and it sits nicer now...

It will cost much more after shipping. Go to your local junkyard and get one. The front fender is held on by bolts, so no welding needed. Bring a big socket wrench or a breaker bar.

What kind of budget are we working on here?

I think the first thing you should get is a set of 15" Z-28 rims, there usually cheap and will make the car look a lot better (It makes a great starter set of rims). Being cheap means in a year or two time you can upgrade without losing any money on these rims.

Then if the budget allows you move on and get GFX and a paint job.

Or even just a nice paint job with the new rims will improve your cars looks.

The grided tail lights would be a great add-on as well.

Im not gonna be able to do anything really good to my car until i get a real job, and i'll have a steady flow of cash so i can save up money the right way.

i'm about to start filling in dents on the left side sometime, i have a can of bondo and some other stuff my dad bought. I cant paint it yet because my brother's car is waiting to be painted right now so he can drive it again without it rusting. he has a metallic blue 85 or 86 iroc w/ a 350 but his interior is in pretty bad condition.

Agreed. But he will have to put out a lot more money to get those rims. Seeing how he is on a budget, I thought the Z28 rims would be a good start.

IMO
DO NOT lower your car
DO NOT change the body styling
You own a berlinetta, dont try to make it something it isnt just make it kick ***.

First of all obviously fix up the outside. Make a couple trips to a junk yard see if ya can get a set of tail lights, fix the mirror, paint etc. (dont get a mako job unless you plan on getting rid of the car relatively soon, if youre gonna do something do it right and wait the extra year to be able to afford a real paint job)

As far as wheels id get something dished. The berlinetta's are the only third gens that can really pull off the slicks out back look so when you could afford it if you got a nice set of 17" rims with a second set of rears in a 15" with some E/T streets it would look AWESOME!

Then the rest is just fixer up. Do the interior how you like you can either try to restore it to stock or go completly aftermarket, for instance some race seats, new interior colour if you want, roll cage because theyre schweet! gauges all of your basic interior stuff. Then all you have left is the mechanical stuff. An engine swap would probably not be a bad idea, same thing for tranny and rear end but all of that stuff comes down to money.

heres an example of the type of rim that would look good if you turned it into a drag style car.

I agree...Bring it back to a very nice Berlinetta. You have some pretty rare optins and a fairly straight car. If you make it nice then make it fast you will be MUCH happier. Then you will here "nice car" instead of "wait, that's not a REAL IROC" Go slow and don't get frustrated. If had a choice of fast or clean,,,I'd make it fast first.....

hey

if you decide to go witht the IROC front, here is a good choise...lightweight fiberglass, includes the nose and fenders you need. then just find a camaro that was in a front on collison and get the side and rear gfx of it...

$675

heres some side 85-90 TA gfx $210

or the iroc gfx $195

rear bumper w/o gfx $225
