can i scrape the rear hatch ?
i have decided to try and tint my hatch myself, and if it comes out crappy, then i will have it done professionally. Before i put the tint on i need to scrape the glass with a razor blade to get everything that is stuck to the glass off, but can i do that with the defroster on the window ? i have theglass itself already off the car and in my garage.
just wondering what i should use to get the glass completely clean before i tint it.

Clean it with a good glass cleaner and then razor only the parts that need it.
Before you go to all the trouble, re-think the whole thing. I haven't heard of anyone on here that has received good results from doing it themselves. Don't waste the time or the tint. Just my $.02.
Pay the professional the $$ to do it well, one time, with a lifetime warranty. And if you still choose to do it yourself, be sure to have the following things handy:
-Heat Gun
-3M Tint
-Punching Bag

Tinting you your own side windows is hard, i could only imagine the odd shaped hatch.....
Never have i seen someone post positive results from tinting their own windows......It's usually one of those jobs that require someone professionally to do it, not a DIY job

If you do decide to tint it yourself and it turns out bad, be careful if you scrape it off. You can scrape the defroster right off. And be careful using a razor as well, you don't wanna cut those defroster lines either.
But I'm with them, let a professional do it. Lots of places will even give you a lifetime warrenty. It may cost more at first, but it will be well worth it.

i got the whole hatch, spoiler and everything out of the bone yard for $20, sold the spoiler for 15, so i got the glass for $5
i already have the tint, just figured i might as well try it, and see how it comes out
i will not be putting the hatch on until spring anways so i have all winter to decide if i like it or not, and just have it done professionally in the spring.
I already have the tint, so i wanted to take a stab at it myself
i have tinted windows before, so it isnt' a new thing to me, just something i wanted to do, when i got bored.
