Hawks Third Gen Parts... ordering hood soon, couple questions....

They're not answering their phone... they're supposed to be open today...

Anyhow, I plan on ordering a Ram Air II hood from them soon. It says to allow 4 to 6 weeks to ship. I am curious if, to those who have ordered from them before, will the money will get charged to my "credit card" (actually a check/debit card, but it's a Visa and vendors see it as a credit card) as soon as I order the hood, or will it get charged in 4-6 weeks when the item actually ships?

If it gets charged immediately I need to wait a week or two before I order it, but if it gets charged upon shipping I want to order it now to get the ball rolling as soon as possible.

Also does anyone know how much it's gonna be to ship that thing to OH? I already see there is a $15 boxing fee.

Also, is it safe for the gelcoated hood to get wet?

I was very happy with the service at Hawks Third Gen Parts. The hood was supposed to take 4 to 6 weeks, and I received it in one week. It may have been quicker due to shipping to a business, I dont know. The only beef I have is the fitment of the hood, but I hear a lot of people have that problem. As far as shipping goes I live in Springfield Missouri and it was $85 for all shipping costs.

Cool deal. I've ordered from Hawks before and have been pleased with their service in the past, but I have only ordered miniscule interior parts and such, nothing as major/large as a hood. Wow, you recieved it in one week?

Yeah there are going to be some fitment issues any time you buy a fiberglass hood, but I'm purchasing this hood with that mindset. How was your fit? Was it really bad/noticeable? Got a pic?

One more question, just to confirm, was that $85 including the $15 boxing fee and such? So the total cost shipped to your door was something like $584.00 ?

Yes that was including the boxing fee. I do not remember the date they took payment, I was too excited about my new hood, I put it on in the parking lot at work before I evem went home. Your shipping cost may be different I just was hoping you give you a ballpark.

I don't know about the shipping and credit deal, as I ordered my hood from next gen parts. But the gel coat will be fine. I have mine in that for the better part of a year till I was able to afford getting it painted. Never had any problems.

well if Hawks is like most other places, your card will get charged when you order the hood, so you need to wait till you have enough money on the card. even though most places say 4-6 weeks shipping, 5-10 days is the usual, i guess they just dont want to say 10 days, then have customers get mad when it takes 12 or something.

83crossfire: Yeah, thanks for the ballpark figure, I imagine my rate will be similar.

Xceleratemaro: I hope mine ends up fitting at least that well. Looks good.

It will be nice when I have mine also, because I have a 91 Formula, so I have the rounded nose. I've seen very few 91-92 style with the RA-II so it should be fairly unique. Combine that with the fourth-gen style wing and no ground-fx and I'll have the only car like mine that I've ever seen. ( :: waits for someone to post a pic that proves me wrong :: )
