So I just bought a 3rd gen...

http://www.geocities.com/klondike834/next

Z28 V-8 5.0L Automatic with a Shift Kit in it, and one of the cleanest interiors I've seen in a car that old. Only 83k miles, two owners, and no wrecks.

Could use a new paint job, I'm thinking black? What about red?

For a system, a friend of mine has 2 12's he is willing to part with for a small price

It already has brand new Cooper Cobra Radial GT's

Getting new headers, new CPU, a few more cheap mods, and new rims. Those rims are....Iffy.

Thinking of changing to Standard...But alot of work would be needed, would have to move the armrest back a bit, same with the E-Brake, dash a bit....etc. Would be a costly change, but worth it, an automatic Camaro is an oxy-moron to me.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Okay, first off welcome to the boards.

Also I see under you're user name it says 350 5.0L Motor.

Which there is no such thing. A 5.0 is a 305, a 5.7 is a 350.

And yes the interior looks very nice. But I don't like the color.

I'd say paint it black.

This monitor sucks, and I can't see it very well but I'm not to sure thats a z28 front cover, it looks more like a SC ect..

Also, you can decode you're vin on this site and see if it is a 305 or 350.

And a RPO decoder to decode what options you have.

Yeah you are right. It's a SC front bumper cover. It has a Z-28 dash emblem though The hood is not from an 84 Z either. Also on the back bumper cover there should be a z-28 emblem but it just has a bowtie and says chevrolet. does you car have gfx? I would check your vin and rpo codes out, that may not be a z.

Without a doubt it is not a Z28. That is the basic camaro sport coupe with the optional LG4 motor.

(Visual cues such as wrong tailights [82-84 should have the horizontal center strips painted black], wrong bumper covers, seats, sport coupe wheels, hood, no GFX, etc. will tip you off to this. Also there will be a lack of the option code "Z28" on your RPO sticker in the glove box if it is still there, if it is match the vin on it and the car as well. The dash badges are commonly swapped out by sellers trying to get a few extra bucks out of cars.)

Still a good start!

If by standard, you mean manual, then it isnt that much work.

All you really need is a different plate for your console, and the transmission itself.

You dont need to move th armrests or the dash or ebrake or anything.

Don't forget the clutch, you will need one of those.

I'd suggest black since the car is a dark color already. Also, the interior could look sharp with such contrast against black.

And welcome to the board

You dont need to move any of that stuff you listed, all it is, is a different plate plus the shifter.

I felt the same way with you about automatics, until I finally bought my 82 Z-28 with every option and t-tops with near mint charcoal interior for 1400$. Outside had 2 year old paint but fender/hood was not painted due to accident. Also brand new rims/tires and front struts/brakes. Wish I could find a picture, but dont think I can, it is currently in storage. Had a freak leak a year later and somehow lost over 4 quarts of oil in a week...

This was probably the best car I have bought yet (93 civic for 2400$, 75 Camaro for 500$ 350, posi, 4 speed and runs 14s and 83 Camaro SC mighty 2.8 with a 5 speed sold for 300$ more then I bought it for at 2k)

Get some ground FX (In my opinion make it more modern and sporty) and paint it, you will have 1 nice car thats for sure.

Klondike -- Congrats!

Congratulations on the car. It looks great and the price you paid was about right. Good Deal! Those cars are dependable as hell. You should get many enjoyable miles from it, and it is a great foundation to build from to have something really special.

I vote paint it BLACK!
