Absolutely beautiful. I do that with all the TPI intakes I polish, including the one thats on my car right now. It makes everything alot more "brighter" I guess you could say.

Nicest SuperRam I've seen yet!

:hail:

Powdercoat? Just don't put polished metal anywhere near "almost chrome" powder...anything else would be cool.

Stupid question...how (long) did it take you to mask that off to get the paint down in the grooves?

Not too long... my 2 1/2 yr old son helped. That slowed me down some, he is a thirdgen nut already.

IM polishing the fuel rails now, going to paint them black down the grooves as well.

Any ideas for the base? So the almost chrome powder wouldnt look right? I started to polish it, but need more tools to get into the tight areas.

Thanks!

O.K., but how do you get the black paint in the grooves without getting it on the polished aluminum? Do you just use a small paint brush?

The "almost chrome" powder coat looks great. Problem is that next too actual polished aluminum, it doesn't quite look right.

Kinda like two different reds on the same car, they can both look good, just not on the same car.

I put masking tape over the entire plenum. Then I cut out where I'm going to paint using a razor blade. That method seems to work good, but I'm not sure what method MikeH uses.

I just put some grease on top of the lines I don't want to paint, then mask off the rest. Work's great, I got the idea from someone here.

Oh... ok ...yeah that might not look right.

Thats what I did tunedport335, I had some blue painters tape. It came right off when I was done. I did use a touch up brush, the 2n1 kind. It came with the ball pen in the cap for scratches. It was just the right size. I dont think paint would even stick to the polished part, without some prep work.

I have the time and really want to detail this motor well. I miss driving it though....

TPI383...Mirror black, That looks awesome!! A polished set of fuel rails, polished waterneck, would look killer. The mirror silver looks very good as well. Are those coatings really durable? Would the base need to be sanded before hand or left as cast?

Looks pretty good. The Mirror black finish looks good too, but I really can't stand much black in an engine bay, I like to be able to visible see dirt so I can more easily clean the engine bay.

Sweet Looking SuperRam!

Are those the original bolts on the lid? Mine are getting tarnished. Need to find some stainless ones.

What did you use to sand down the rim around the edge of the lid? I didn't do that to mine but want to.

Hey lock....I bought it used so IM not sure if the bolts are the originals or not. I think they are, they looked pretty tarnished before as well. On the lid, I used 100 grit with a sanding block to start. And my hand to get the rounded edge. I used a power sander on the plenum. Then sanded by hand.

If yours are tarnished try throwing them in a drill and sanding them with some 400 grit. Then polish them with one of the polishes. They were easy compared to the rest.

Thanks TPI 383 There is a guy local that does powder coating. I plan to ask him about it.

I think a black block, with polished heads, mirror black intake, would really pop.

Thanks

I love the way those manifolds look... the shape of the top always reminds me of those hairy looking '69 Z/28 intakes... the dual-Holley crossram intakes

Good job on it... looks awesome
