Chrome Exhaust Tips

hey guys, I'm considering a whole new exhaust system this spring and I'm thinking about exhaust tips but I don't think I've seen 'em on too many 3rd gens and I'm wondering how they look. My car is an '83 25th ann. Daytona 500 Pace Car T/A w/the original ground effects n stuff but pix of any 3rd gens will help me decide. Thanks.

when i was younger i had them on my car....then i went to a single out muffler and changed to polished which was a much better decision looks and durability wise. now that i'm older i don't want to see the pipes so my 4" isn't visable..

I say stay without tips. I think the hidden look is much better on our cars.

BTW How many miles on the Daytona? CFI or carb?

formularpm - the tips did come polished , they are polished stainless steel.

Anth's Iroc - they hold up fine, i only drove the car in rain 3 times last year and i usually use meguiar mag polish or something like that whenever i wax it. and i dont drive it in the winter. so for me they will last forever but i dont know how well they are when they get treated differently than i do .

Daytona T/A - i think they look ok , but i like the look of no tips. they are ok for now but when i get the new engine and the car painted they will be gone . I think your car will look better without them .

Personally I like the looks of the dual tips on each side. I have a borla cat back exhaust on mine and love the sound of it. Here are a few pics of what they look like on the car.

No, they came with the catback. The same style Hooker tips are available through Jegs or Summit, the only difference is they are slash cut. Mine may be for sale in the near future if youre interested.

i personally wanted to go with the stock tips on mine at first but ended up with teh rectangular tips. Get teh real loud pipes and then non showing tips gives it the whole " i hear something mean but where the hell is it coming from" type thing

Well, the muffler is flowmaster yes, but I'm not exactly sure on the tips themselves. I had a custom exhaust shop weld them on for me. Their chrome, inside and out. If you want, I can stop by that shop and ask him for ya, and get back to you. It's been two and a half years, but with a little chrome polish every time you wash the car, they stay nice.

82FirebirdTA- my baby has 43,200 miles on her... she got CFI... 4 spd auto, optional silver turbo-fin wheels which are being replaced next year, t-tops, um.... I think that's all the options u could get on the Daytona's.... they pretty much came loaded, but.. yeah, anyway, the CFI is pretty quick and since I just turned sixteen a cppl months ago I'm not in a hurry to make any major power improvements. Insurance would be sky-high. LOL.

If you like the hooker tips you can buy them seperate. They cost $50 per tip.I had to replace one when I had a minor mishap baking out of a buddies driveway.
