Change my tips?

Hey Guys

I had a set of of new exhaust tips installed on my car last October....I like'em....but they are slighty crooked...and I'm wondering if they are "to much" for my car. Should I go with something different..like the 4th gen style? I want something different....do you think they would match my car better? I'll post a few pictures...

I remember pics when you got em installed and they didn't do such a good job. I like the 4th gens but if you want something different try a big oval pipe with a rolled tip theres a 4th gen around here with some and they look awsome, if I had ...any money at all I'd get em!

Even if you got the new tips, they still would be unbalanced.
The ones you have now are a little overkill (4 large outlets.. and people whine about 4 cyl car having just one)
The biggest problem that is shown, aside from them protruding to far from underneeath the bumper, is the fact that the aren't symmetric. (commen exhaust problem... even GM screwed up on the 4thgens...).
The drivers side is closer to the outer edge than the pass side (due to the spare tire 'compartment'). When you evenly space the pipes from those edges, they are off. The pass side has to hug as close to the outside as can and the drivers side has to hug the trunk well to be evenly spaced.
You need about 1.5" cut from the piece comming directly off the muffler outlet pipe on the drivers side, and about 2" from the pipe the tips are on... then it will look balanced and good regardless if you keep your current or get the Ebay tips (though I think the 4thgen style fits the camaros nicely). Just my opinion though...

I have a Hooker catback with quad tips. I just chopped a bit off the pipes that come from the muffler, and I got them centered and they don't stick out like that.

You just gotta play with them a bit....

dont worry about the narrow minded-ness. i have dual 3 inch tips now. i got the catback used so the tips are kinda banged up so im gonna get a set of Megs quad tips from thunder racing. they are 3 inch inlet and dual 3.5 inch outlet. i think they will look a TON better than wha ti have now. i say keep what you have, and try to make them fit the car better (shorten them, and square them to the bumper) just dont get those ugly *** 4th gen style ones.

Has anyone seen a set of the 4th gen style on a 91 or 92 Z28? That's what I'm really looking for. I posted a thread on the photoshop board requesting a photoshop to have a set on my car....I'd just like to see how they would look....

that's what I HAD on mine....but just the round 3 1/2 inch tips are getting VERY boring around here....everyone has them....even the big farmer trucks and stuff....just looking for thing different, that stands out....that's even and will last awhile....something stainless...

Man, I really like these. They look like they fit real nice. Anybody know who might make em? Also, I think those all red taillights are sweet. Wouldnt they be illegal though? You think tose are custom or did a year come like that?

I love the lights and the tips....Don't you just change the yellow and clear lens's to red ones? The parts interchangable? Or how about would you do that and yea are they illegal?

they are decent tips

u could pull them in about 1/4 inch to a half inch, sure they look better on a fourth gen, but its what ever you want ur car to look like, so long as ur not trying to **** out an american muscle car, 3.5 inches is the biggest you shou;ld go with exhaust on a camaro, also by posting ur ? ur asking fo rothers opinions, so, go with the slant cut, and definantly not with the rolled tips

I agree

I look at the whole car and everything is how I want it...but when I go to the back...I just don't know about the tips. They are brand new...installed on October 31st...all together cost about $150 bucks. I guess I just need to see what's out there. I've done a search and ound tons of tips....but nothing is coming out and bighting me..lol. If I decide to get any kind of new tips though...I'll have to get new actual tailpipes existing from the muffler though. They had to cut a ton of the pipe off in order to fabricate the set I have now....wish I could just do it here at my house. I have a MIG welder...nothing special though...flux core....no pipe bender....and I do have a saws-all.....but..I dunno..

Damn man I spent 60 on mine and they custom bent the primary pipe and everything, and there were perfect when finished (I've since f-ed up but thats my fault) I certainlyi wouldn't go back to that shop..

And since when does someone who cant spell get a new Z06?

Well 84customz28 I know what ya mean about the tips. I have the same tips on my car as you do and they seem to be getting old to me! I really like the way the tips on IROC350TPI's car look. I also like the look of the rolled tips like grngryoutmyway but I am not sure what to do! I like the rectangular 4th gen tips but alot of people seem to be getting them. Willie has had them on his car for a long time and they look awesome. So I am not sure what to tell ya about the tip situation.

Yeap. My opinion is that anything over 3 inch is too big. I wouldn't call that norrow minded. It's just my opinion. I don't like the way huge tips look. It's your car and if you like the really huge tip look then you should go for it.

round exhaust tips simply don't flow with thirdgens AT ALL.

the ONLY ones that i think look good on 3rd gens are the rectangle style 4th gens. because the shape of them works with the car.

personally i just like the stock hidden tips.

IF I went with a set of the 4th gen style....they would have to stick out maybe 1 1/2 in. or so.....the picture of the blue Z28....they look to even with the back of the bumper....if you just stood back and looked at it..you may not even be able to see'em....just a little to flush with the bumper. If they stuck out to far, that would look like crap...but just to stick out a lil...just to have that shine hit you in the eyes...yeah..that would be better.

I like the the tips you have. Id keep em and use the money to put some more toys under the hood.

Or you could always go down to auto zone and get some of those cool light up tips that have weird japanese symbols on them and glow in the dark and scream "g*y pride!!!" lol I cant belive the guy actually tried to sell me those

They are good ol' fourth gen Z28 tips, you can usually find them on ebay fairly inexpensive.

Hey 84customZ28 thats also what I was thinking. Would not surprise me in the least. Everything else on the car is all custom too.

Yeah, that's fore sure...he has $3000.00 in just the freakin exhaust! I've got some time to decide what to get....I'd just like to narrow it down some....

I like mine Nice and hidden on the left side...I do not think tips look as good on the Pontiacs than they do on the Chevys.....

Seriously...I love those Square fourth gen tips...Looks like it belongs with the square rear.

i know about the 4th gen ones and that was my last resort. notice how they are both crafted to one side on the 4thgens? i was looking for something that has the pip in the middle instead of the side. i actually saw an ad in CHP for flat tips from this company, but they are crome. i HATE crome, peels and rusts. know any other venders for the flat tips?
