What wheels to get?
Alright guys, I need some new wheels. But I don’t know what will be good. The car is 1998 Chrysler Platinum (as seen in the pics below). I got to tell ya I was thinking something like ZR1 wheels 17x11 in rear and 17x9.5 in front, also some C5 wheels in 18x10.5 in rear and 18x9.5 in front. NO Z06, not a fan of them on MY car.
One thing I want these rims to be wide, as wide as can be, between 10-12in wide (well for the rear one, need that traction). Well and I also love the look of huge rear tires, like in the ZR1, I love those humongous rear wheels.
Thanks,
Shane
P.S. most $ per rear wheel is $280. And for front somewhere below that.

i like the stock look myself. always had a hard time getting wheels for the fbodies because of the size they use, and the wheels that do fit are ugly. get some 4th gen wheels. those are about as wide as you can do really. plus, they make more sizes in the 4th gen setting then the 3rd gen. dont go bigger then 17. withs 15s and 17s you can go HUGE on tires and they arnt that expensive. when you hit 18+ your spending bucks

then i gues it'll be the ZR1 wheels, I love how they are 11in wide. I want some wide rims, very wide rims. Ever looks at the *** of a ZR1 and loked at how wide those tires are? Its so cool. Even the Z06s arnt that big.

what size did the corvettes have with those rims?
I was think ZR1 17x11s in the rear and ZR1 17x9.5 in the front. That way the front rims dont rub on anything in there
I love the look that those wide rims from the rear bring is just so perfect

corvettes have bigger bases then our cars and can fit bigger tires. on a 17 you can go 275 and they will rub on serious turns and bumps. im not sure on the stock 18inch vettes, on the front is a 245 or a 255 though. back is larger then that but they are 18s, the size changes when the wheel size
1st# is the width, 2nd# is the % of the 1st#, 3rd is the wheel size. like i have a 235/60/15 on the front and a 295/50/15 on the rear, evens out.

ive never even seen a 285 and ive been in the tire business for a long time. yes they will rub. we did a set of torque thrusts with the 275's on a 92 z. he came back a month later with slices on the tires. the rolled lip in your wheel well will hit the tire if you hit a bump hard enough or take a turn to steep turn, on 4th gens, the rear is larger and the wells are a bit bigger so they dont have problems. my brother had a set of 315's on the back of his 95 hawk and they used to rub the inner well on turns. trust me, after you see prices on tires that size, youll think 2wice. you get a flat, thats a new tire man. dont go pluggin tires trying to save money.

thats is so totlaly fn gay. The width i wanted i cant get cause my wheel well is to small. Can i enlarge it?
I mean the look i'm trying to bring accross is totally unheard of. I'm gonna be the first on the board to put Lambo doors on one on these cars, i'm gonna suicide the hood also. Suicide the hood is so it opens like a corvetts.
Although this is not gonna be a show car. This car is gonna be a fast mothafuka, i'm gonna get an LT1, bore it out to a 383, then it'll be 11 second car after i'm done with it. This car is gonna be sweet.

sounds excellent. i have an 11 second ride myself. ive seen the lift off hatch and lambo doors but never the lift off hood, that'll be cool to see. you can tub your wells if you want, but its big bucks. or you can do what i did, lift the rear up. i got a lift on the back to fit the 295's but i think its gonna rub on the rubber blocks that block the rear end from hitting the chassy. think i might fab something up and cut those out. if your gonna do 17s, do the 275's. youll be happy man. they are wide enough and look great on 3rd gens. they actually look bigger then they really are because the 3rdgen body is smaller. i dont think youll want something too big for street driving anyways, car will handle poorly. the 1st thing my brother said when going back to stock size: "the car handles so much better now"
