2 1/4 or 3 1/4 Unlimited Products Cowl scoop.Which to chose,need pictures
Hi,
I am in the process of buying a bolt on hood scoop from Unlimited Products but dont know which to chose. The choices are between a 2 1/4 or 3 1/4 cowl scoop. Here is the website http://up22.com/scoopw1.htm and the part numbers im looking at our SC-109 and SC-113.Right now my open element air filter is hitting the hood so thats my reasoning of getting a cowl along with wanting to get a spacer for the TBI.I have a 91 camaro if that helps.I tried a search but no one posts how big of a cowl they have on their camaro...Anyone out there have any pictures of a 2 1/4 or 3 1/4 cowl? Also has anyone installed a Unlimited Products cowl before? Thanks in advance and all and any info will be greatly appreciated

Just a little advise, you may want to save yourself alot of trouble and headaches and look to get your fiberglass parts from someone beside Unlimited products. I've had some freinds that have used there hoods and they are junk. The worst fit I have ever seen on a fiberglass hood and the gel coat was so thin you could still see raw glass through it. Where it was thick enough to cover the glass it was wavy as hell. Took alot of body work to make them even look halfway decent.

scottland has the RPM Airgap intake which is pretty tall..
If ur intake is stock I assume things would work out for you.

Stay away from the Unlimited Products hoods. My brother had one on his 86 sport coupe, thought he got a good deal for i think 2 1/2, the thing was a big pile of junk for the price. the hood looked like someone started to make it and then stopped and sold the hood, thats how bad there quality is. wait and save for like a cervinies hood or a harwood, you'll be much more happier.

complete hood with mounting hardware, and the "reenforcement" in the hood where the hinge bolts go looks like its just a wad of body filler in there for suport.

Just gotta add my 2 cents so sorry. I had a bad experience with Unlimited Products. I still have the cowl hood from them but it took majoy redoing to get it to fit decently & look pretty good. When fiberglass hoods are made basically they are in two parts. The top & bottom are bonded together with metal reinforcement in between for strength. When i got my hood everything seemed alright until i tried to fit it on my car. I understand that you get what you pay for & the price was awesome compared to other companies(minus the shipping! Living in Hawaii sucks for shipping!), but the quality was veeeeeeeery bad. To make a long story short, the top & bottom weren't bonded straight. I had about an 1/8th of an inch diagonal difference on the fit between the top & bottom. Had to majorly realign the fenders, hood supports, & grind some of the hood edges to get a decent fit. And even at that, I had to mold in more metal pieces & fiberglass in the center area where the opening was so there wasn't so much flex in the hood while driving. Now i know what you're all thinking, "Why didn't you just send it back & get a replacement?", but you gotta understand the complications of shipping & paperwork when you live in Hawaii. I think they do this unpurpose(send the bad batches to Hawaii) knowing that it's too much hassle for most people to complain & do something about it. Well, I still have the hood after much pain & anger, but just to warn you again......you get what you pay for
Unlimited-
I have bought from them, almost always have freight damage(try file a freight claim ) not good, cowl hood is 1/2 inch short, trunk was 3/4 inch off to one side, Complete body - was a nice thing I needed to cut it up to fit the chassis. Bought a ASCD hood and any who think their work is poor should by from Unlimited- there was a vast difference in quality. Think about it and go with ASCD-Les- IMHO

I once had a 2.5" harwood cowl scoop. No visibility problems. I ran out of clearence (plus that hood looked like ****ing ****), so now I have a Harwood 4" (I think its actually higher then 4"). Still no visibility problems - you get used to it.

Here ya go. This is the Unlimited Products 2 1/4 inch bolt on front latch cowl hood. If you read my previous post it had to be heavily modified. But since you're getting just the bolt on cowl section & not the entire hood you shouldn't have that much of a problem. And check my sig for another angle of it.
Hey acescarrsRS
Thanks for the pics.Do you have any visibilty problems?Just want to make sure before i purchase it.Also i went to click on your website and it comes up as an error. Thanks once again for the pictures

No prob 91NiteRida. Yeah I'm having hosting issues with my sig pic & i gotta fix it. As far as visibility, it takes a while to get use to seeing the passenger side front of your vehicle. But it's nothing that serious to deal with even if it's a daily driver. I think you might even be able to get by with a 3" or 4" cowl but I've never driven a car with those heights. But I've driven a car with a 6" cowl & that is kinda hard to see over

If you've got some money maybe you could get one of these hoods instead. IMHO these hoods match your birds veeeeery good
It's the WS6 style hood that they now make for birds & even camaros . Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps Supreme Member

I like my 3 inch hood from www.cervinis.com. I like the fit and quality of the hood. It has a nice contoured back to the windshield. It also has a nice sloped side and doesn't go straight up on the sides. It has a nicely finished underside as well. Nice product, I am happy with it. I just don't have too good of a picture of it. Sorry.

I've heard good things about Cervini's hoods & I guess you're proof of the quality. Think I might try them next time I get a glass hood.
