Opinions please

ok, here's what i am going to do during the next twoo weeks:
-install the new top with glass window
-new paint
-shave door locks
-shave antenna
-shave gas cap
-lower the back 1/2 inch

The question that remainns is, what should i do with the side body molding? Has anyone a pic of a ragtop without them? I wonder how it looks

I think it looks good with the side molding. If you take it off, you are going to have just one surface, with nothing to break it up. I think the side molding actually defines the bodylines of the 3rd gen... especially on a ragtop, it would just look weird without it.

That is a sweet ride... as plain as it looks, it stands out to me...

Question I have.. Where do you plan to go wtih the gas fill once the side door is shaved? I had thought behind the rear license plate holder...

I'd leave the door molding. All that car needs is a 91-92 Z28 grill.

If you're going through the trouble to shave the gas cap and door locks, then I'd definately lose the door molding.

i say definitely ditch the side moldings....your car has one of the smoothest finishes and overall looks i've ever seen and i think the less broken up the car is, the better it will look. along with what a few other people said...why repaint? your car looks flawless. by the way, did you change rims recently? i thought i remembered seeing a different set of rims on there before...they're killer though

I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing he said.

The point of shaving the gas cap, handles, antenna, locks, etc. is to make all the body panels smooth and clean. Keeping the mouldings will defeat the purpose of shaving everythig else, don't ya think?

One thing is for sure, I can't wait to see this car when you are done! You already had a great looking ride, but you are really stepping it up a few notches!

I've been debating the side molding as well. I've decided on the 91-92 side molding.

If you look at the 3rdGen Camaro from the side, you notice the body lines in the side of the bumper covers and if you remove the molding, you have this big lacking gap in that flowing line.

Not only will you have protection, but you'd be continuing the flowing lines that were originally designed by leaving it.

if you're going to get a z28 grille, you gotta get the 91-92 louvers too

personally i like the rs grille on your car right now... it matches the louvers

why repaint the car?

well after shaving antenna, door locks and the gas cap, one is forced to repaint the parts.....
BTW i replaced the gas cap yesterday. Took two hours. It sits now in the "glove compartement" of my convertible trunk. The car is at the bodyshop now, i will post pics when the shaving is done and the car is ready to paint. I decided to tint the back and side windows, guess that will give the car a sharp look when driving with the top up....
