Driving is what its all about, thats why I cant personally justify putting a crap load of money into my car, since I know I will wear it out in no time
I put 20,000mi on my car last year, heh

Great. So many different ways we can look at this term when it comes to our cars lol. Nah actually, I do love my car and do think it's great. It's weird how I feel about it now after everything I have done to it. It used to just be a nice cruising car, AC, heater, subs & amps, nice interior, stock paintjob, etc... Now I REALLY love it, but no longer have an AC, heater, stereo, etc... but as I sit at the strip with the v8 355 and open headers with stripped interior, it doesnt matter how hot or cold it gets, I know I'm gonna have a good time So yeah, it IS great!

I've been without my Firebird for a few months now. I miss it alot and hope that the shop will get it back to me before the summer because the best feeling I've gotten yet is driving in the middle of the night, on my way home from work, stereo up and the tops off. Like you guys say, the feeling of absolute freedom. My truck is nice, and more powerful and a better performer, but it's a truck. What it all comes down to is that feeling, thats why you modify a car, because you love it. And we truely love our cars.

I took the tops off on the way home from school today. My car isnt much (completely stock), but it felt great rolling down the street, blasting music and all. Despite the issues with the car, times like those are the ones that make me glad to have it.

I have an 89 Iroc that used to be my daily driver. About a year ago I parked it and started a total reconstruction project. I missed driving it so much I kept trying to drive it in halfassed condition and just kept making more of a mess of it. So I went out and got a 92 RS It only has a 6 in it but it feels so good to drive a camaro again I love just driving at night with no destination just ...................driving and feeling completley free!

Wow, it is nice to read a great thread that evokes feelings and emotions that i share with you guys....

I recently sold one of my two black birds for a 96 convertible camaro. The camaro is nice, but i used to love taking my 89 firebird out for a spin. The car was rusty, but had a worked over engine and sounded MEAN. I could jump into that car and not "worry" that I got grass blades or dirt on the seats when i sat in the grass at cruise nights.

I wish that i didnt sell it. The 96 camaro is fast but it is expected. When I spanked cars with that firebird there was much more of a response because it wasnt expected, after all its only a third gen <wink wink>.

These cars are the "RAT RODS" of the 2000s. They are cheap, easy to fix, (okay kinda easy) and the parts are plentiful. Besides some of the show cars here, most of us could walk into a junkyard, pull a part for our car and not worry if it wasnt "perfect". In my eyes, the only thing separating these cars from our dad's hot rods of yore is the little woodpecker on the fender or a mexican blanket on the seat. Heck, I bet some of us are rolling with "blankets" covering ratty seats!

I constantly finding myself singing "shes real fine my 305.." or "fun fun fun til daddy takes the firebird away".

Long live the F body.

Ya know i was just thinking the same thing today. I went for a long drive on the back twisty roads windows down stereo blastin' carefree. 65 degree day today. I ran out a full tank of gas

It's really a shame alot of people don't have the same passion as most of the members on this board, or any other f-body board for that matter.

Yeah gotta love the phrase "it's only a thirdgen" That's what drives me to make my car the best of the best.

Really how great these cars are and the feeling you get while driving em. I came to this conclusion sunday, one of the thirdgenners from coloradof-body hosted a club party at his house. THe party was great and i hope someone from there took some pics we only had about 4 thirdgens show up but it was the drive up there. The weather was gorgeous out i got onto 1-70 and there was little traffic. got her up to about 110 before i came up behind a state trooper and let off for awhile to keep him happy. But its liek between work, school, my girlfreind and everythign else going on rarely do i really get to go out and just go ya know. After all the money and time spent i was like damn why dont i do this every week. I think sometimes we get wrapped up in everything else and really forget how great it is to get out and just go, windows down no worries, i recently havent gotten to have the experience where its just you the car and the road no worries your minds just clear from all the other crap going on. It really is what these cars are all about the open road and just enjoying them.

I remember such a day from a few years back where I had the worlds biggest smile on my face because I was rolling, tops down, 90 degree saturday, just finished washing the car. This is a pic I call Driving enjoyment.

Its blurry but theirs no mistaking that feeling (looks funny because my upper lip perfectly aligns with my buddys chin, so it looks like I have a massive upper lip.

Yep. Often I'll go bomb around the city, and then pull her home and think to myself, G0d I love that car.
