cover of new summit!!!

Anyone see the black cobra on the cover? The way the purple reflects on the paint is awesome! I think I figured out what color to paint my 91. What do you guys think? Anyone know how I can get this look? I was thinking maybe a couple coats of black then a coat of purple pearl. I was thinking about painting the ss hood with a single silver stripe like (9T1 Z-28)'s. Ideas? Later, b-man.

ps: will have pro-kit and 18 in. Z06's.

oh yeah d00d, that cover is the shiznats. I looked at it at fist and though it was one of them magzines girls get ya know. Then i saw summit and was like, "oh ****." The cover is like purple, but then its not. I'd love to see that color on a thirdgen. Good luck.

That is pimp! With a capital P. I dunno about the silver stripe though.....of course, I am not a big fan of multi colored cars, unless it is done right.

Or maybe it is just multi colored F-Bodies I don't like much. Too many people do crappy jobs of striping them and use bad color combos.

I think the silver stripe on the front of the cobra goes with the paint. Look up 9T1 Z-28 (I think) and check out how his stripe is done. Very classy I think. Let me know what ya think. I've almost talked myself into doing it.

to get that look you would have to paint it a chrome color which is not only expensive but not practicle for the street as it would be very illegal.

Ummm these guys sell glow-in -the-dark paint additives. Talk about weird.... add it to your next paint job and your car will look like it's straight out of an episode of Scooby-Doo!

glow!

grngryoutmyway, that's nicely done.

IMO the third gens with the stripes that go all the way down the front and back usually end up looking crappy after a while because they start to get chipped away at the bottom (if driven often). When they only cover the hood like that looks great. Kinda reminds me of the early Camaros.

different applications for different reasons...i suppose no one noticed the viper or other vehicles that were painted for examples. next your going to laugh because someone paints bowling pins. it's to show how well the paint flows on the smallest crevices which typical candy paints don't do smart guy!

looking at some of the other pictures it looks like maybe they just used lights to make the paint look so good. In the pic from the rear the paint doesnt look like anything special .

no reason to hijack this thread over a particular paint....if it won a sema award for it i doubt it's anything to laugh at. anyone who knows anything about paint knows you can't judge paint from pictures. just wanted to post the link for someone who wanted to duplicate that look since it is possible.

i don't think i know more about paint then anyone else, i'm just into it a bit more.

as far as the paint scheme i would do some test shots with some pearl over the black...i've only seen a few black cars done that way and it was always so subtle i don't think your going to get the look your striving for. the metallic in the silver strip will also really stand out over the pearl black which may not flow however the concept sounds like a great idea. you might want to even try using purple pearl over the metallic silver or even a white stripe just to see the different effects. paint is such a hard choice because it's such a costly thing you want to do it right the first time.

either way i think the idea would look great though!

Thanks for all the comments. I have a few friends that do paint and body work, so we may test a few ideas out to see what we can come up with. I'm not sure if I want to stay red or try out this color. One thing for sure is that if I can duplicate that look my camaro will be proudly sporting it. Whatever color I choose the ss hood and 18 in. Z06's are a for sure. I have the pro-kit on already so that part is done. I'm also shaving the handles, locks, and antenna. Not sure about the side molding though, I really like it on the 91. I've been coming to this site since 2000 (had to change user name for some reason) and have picked the brains of many of the members from the sidelines. I figured it was about time to let myself be known.Hope nobody minds another loudmouth .

ps: To all the members who's brains have been picked........:hail: , Thanks! Later, b-man.
