don't do it in the sun, make sure the surface of the car is cool, do one section of the car at a time, wash yur car with dawn to remove any old wax, dry completely, apply few drops of wax to your buffing pad or buffer and apply on car, allow haze to appear on car, then buff off with 100% cotton terry cloth, then move to next section

what he said. also you'll find many people on these boards aren't huge fans of the turtle wax brand and favor meguires, zaino, and a few of the other high quality brands. however, some wax is better then none in probably everyone's opinion, but you will get a deeper shine with a high quality wax.

I like to do mine in the garage where it's cool and there is no chance of the sun hitting the car, that and I have a TV in my garage so I can watch football, basketball or racing, which ever is on.

Also when you wash the car get it 100% clean b/c you dont want to wax on top of dirt, it's just bad. And now that your waxing your gonna find all new crevicies you never knew about, like the spot between the front bumper and fender, between the fender and hood, etc... I have used everything from a razor blade(very carefully i will say), to the edge of a towel to get the excess out. just read the directions on the bottle/can and take it easy, it's fairly simple to do. oh and post pictures after your done

i wish i could think about waxing my car, the weather has been so crappy here in Ohio that I haven't even gotten the thing out very much, it makes me sad, one day it will be 70 and sunny and the next it's 25 and snowing.... oh how I hate ohio.

If you've never waxed your car before I suggest you claybar it before. I'd use Clay Magic....cheapest claybar out there and works perfectly fine....just follow the directions on the packaging.

I wouldn't use dawn on your car...get some car soap, dish soap isn't clear coat friendly.

most car soap wont take off old wax, it's made not to. the dawn shouldn't be used every time, just right before you wax the car, because it takes the old wax off so that the new wax "works". but yeah dont use it regualarly it's not a very good idea

i like turtle wax, seems to work just as good to me, but doesnt last as long. And if you have a car that you need to wax alot to keep the shine, like a old black paint job, it works great. Also turtle wax color cure is good at getting color back, but you have to wax with a regular wax first, that color cure does not clean the paint. By a buffer, even one of those MVP ones at walmart, its well work the $14.99.
