Guages in cowl?
Does anyone have autometer gauges mounted inside a cowl?
I'm thinking about putting some inside the cowl of a stock formula hood...sneaky sneaky...
if you have, post pics.

thanks.
what size gauges are those?
i was hoping to find someone with them in a stock formula hood, but at least that in car shot lets me see how they look from inside the car. I dont like taking my eye off the road to look at anything.

yep, its a shift light all right. Its a Harlem shift light. I never hooked it up though. I have since sold that hood and gauge setup and have begun working a new guage panel for my new 4" hood

Are you guys using some kind of brackets to hold them in? What about sealing them? Using some kind of rubber gasket I assume? How do you protect them from rain and such?
I just cut a piece of sheetmetal that fit the same as the stock one. I made it a little long on the bottom. You don't see all of the gauges, but you see enough. I didn't seal them with anything. There is a slight overhang from the cowl that protects them the most. Sometimes they get a little clowdy, but it never lasts. The heat from the engine is like a big defrost for them. They are very easy to see while driving. Sort of like a heads up display!

I secure mine in with O rings. I just stepped up to a 4" hood and replaced all the 2 1/1th gauges with silver 2 5/8" gauges. I i will post pics when its done. As for the O rings, I got some 2 1/2" ones and they slide over the back of the gauge real tight. I used 2 on each one.
