Let me see your rims!!!
I have a black 87 GTA thats gettibg a fresh 350 and then a paint job. I was wanting to put rims on her along with some other things like a 3" exhaust. I was wondering how this rim would look on a GTA. Or if I would loose cool points. I am a 40 year old kid and not up to date on the cool stuff.
1.What size rim you you use to get the effect that the rear tires are wider than the fronts? I want at least a 16" or maybe 17" in the rear.
2.What size should I go for the front?
3. Also is there any websites that will have a pic ofmy car and will allow me to change styles so I can get an idea of wht it looks like. I found one on Tire Rack but it doesn't have many styles to choose from.
Here is a pic of the rims I like.
Thanks for the help

yeah , those are nice rims. I plan to get boyd coddington smoothies . Which look like that , but i can get them in a custom offset. I plan to get 9.5 all around, with 5.5 bs on the rear and 5.25 on the front. What a lot of guys on this board do is they run spacers and use corvette and camaro and trans am rims. I mean 93-02 ta and camaro rims. But those are some nice rims.
size of rim depends on personal taste and budget. 16-18 is a good range for our cars depending on what you like.
in answer to your first question just go with a wider rim in the back then the front. i found that 8"wide front/10" wide rear is the perfect setup for our cars if you don't mind slight inner fender massaging otherwise 9.5 or 9" rear is good depending on brand and wheel style.
2 and 3 piece billet wheels will give you ultimate versatility in size/width/design. cast wheels are rather limited for our cars which leave the choice of using adapters to make the larger offsets work.
either way just about anything can be done if you choose.

I like the Snypers, especially on ShiftyCapone's car....and Graboid's ride looks clean in those rims as always.
But personally, my favorite wheels for 3rdgen Camaros came right from the factory....

The tire rack site is the only one I know of that allows you to look at various rims, but the thirdgen archives will have millions of different pics of different rims, Id try a search. Anyway, the Snypers get my vote too, they fit and look perfect on a thirdgen. No one put up pics of them on a Firebird, heres mine, more pics in sig.

Here's one for American Racing wheels (TTII's, etc). Look towards the bottom of the page - "Want to see..."
http://www.americanracing.com
You can even see what it looks like lowered and different colors.

Wheels came on the car when I bought it, minus the spinners. Originally they had nasty bubble center cap things. Spinners may be odd, but they look 200% better than what was on it before. 1/2 *** polish job, they used to be 100% oxidized heheh...

..as soon as I can find some 16" IROCs or 16" GTA wheels (gold or black) for a good price, they're bought and on the car. But until I find a real good deal, then these will do just fine.. have for the 5+ years I've owned the car. 15x9s with 235 60 r15s

i like 16 inch wheels and bigger though caus ei dont like to see alot of tire it looks to truckish to me with 15 inch rims granted some look good but to me i hate 15 inch rims.. the only size tire i found that looked good on a 15 inch rim was 225/60/15 or 235/60.15 any bigger and it looks like its ment for a truck to me
also you can tell from the pics i love black camaros:lala:
