i've gotta say wow...

when i read the topic of this thread, i thought to myself "oh no... someone just masked off a half-assed pattern and rattle canned it", but i was pleasantly suprised to see a very professional looking flame job.

keep up the good work

Thats Hot, how about inter twining them next time. you seem to have a set pattern on the bottle. Which flames do random things so set spacing would be a bad thing on anything bigger than what you got there.

The paint looks great any details on how you designed them? Air brushed ect....

used 3M fine line tape to lay out the flames. I would have liked to have made the flames smaller with more variations in design but 1/8" tape is the smallest I could find and thats as sharp a bend as I could get. This tape is ment more for autos. If I would have been using it on a car it would have been perfect with more surface to work with. Fine line tape and regular green automotive masking tape and a Sata mini jet 2000 were all that was used. It actually has a copper pearl in the clear coat which makes it stand out in the sun. Black base actually has a root beer color with pearl over it. I'll try and get a better pic of it in the sun.

Awesome flames on that bottle! dsaint, if you used grafx's color scheme, it would look pretty decent.

Very nice work
On something small like that I you can put the tape on clean glass and cut it to width such as 1/16" then apply it to the project.

cutting fine line tape like that would be way too much work and you would not have even lines. 3M does offer it in smaller widths I just couldn't find any at the paint shop
