Looked like a nice car to be parting out, if that's what they were doing. Ya, I liked the King of the Hill part too.

Isn't it obvious?

our cars are worth a hell of alot more parted out than they are whole.

The guy probabally bought it for nothing, paid those people to tear it apart, and sold the whole thing in peices.

Its good money.

poor car, we've been doing that lately me and another member on the boards all have to say this, atho i don't like taking them a part because id rather save them, the end resulted parting them out is parts parts, parts for your car and money in your pocket... there are always f-body parts in demand - like my nice 4thgen wing that i still havent bolted on my camaro yet

Sure.

But I'm sure that is the only way they could make money. (I mean by not parting out a Furd, no money in those).

My girlfriend's uncle parts out 3rd/4th gens. He buys them for nearly nothing and makes at least a grand a car. Sometimes he gets mint ones too! It hurts to see, but it must be done to keep frankenstein cars like mine alive bwahahahaha!

I guess I'm an optimist, I thought they were stripping it to make a race car then the truck showed up, well OK.. maybe they were taking the body to get acid dipped or put in an oven to bake out all the factory glue/sealer/etc. Then the awful truth...

Was it a V6 car? lol i suppose it wouldn't be so bad then...
nvrmd, i see now it had a 8. WTF... I don't think there would be anything cracked so bad as to junk the whole car. A five speed car 2...

it had a subframe crack, it could have been fixed but this guy didn't claim it was **** or anything, just that to him it was better to dismantle than have fixed.

Anyone else find it pretty stinking funny!?!

It was just another basic v8 RS car, that looks like it was hit in the front and half fixed. Note the mismatched nose/lower spoiler. Not a bad car, but if the frame was toast what better to do with it then to save what's still usable.

At least they -really- parted that turd out! I don't go half as far. What in the world would you do with stock RS suspension parts/brakes/etc!?!

I didn't think it was too funny!

i have one of those "basic" V8 RS cars! Wanna Race?

Why is it a turd? Just because it was a RS? What if that was an IROC they were tearing apart? And what to do with those RS parts, put them back into another one!!! Seems like someone has issues with the RS model, I don't.

Answers...

The crack (think BIG crack) was on the drivers side, where the front crossmember bolts to the unibody. Yes, it was repairable, technically, but financially not feasible. The previous owner had wrecked it THREE times prior to the latest high-speed curb incident, so the chassis was no stranger to a frame machine. The nose, hood, and front fenders were all new (from last wreck), but the roof and decklid had huge paintless spots (rust starting). The pictures depict this nice car, but trust me it was HURT physically and externally.

Three people chipped in on the 750$ car. One got the 5speed (clutch parts, trans, bellhousing, pedals and hydraulics, shifter, etc) setup, new AC compressor (in box, not yet installed) and lots of misc trim parts for her car to get her ac working and convert hers to 5speed. Another person got the 16" wheels with good tires, rear hatch (his was cracked) assy and some trim parts, and I got the fenders, nose and hood as my 92 1LE had been in a slight frontal hit. Awesome deals for 250$ each!

The ground effects went for over 350$ (for the complete set), the motor for 400$, the doors were 75 each (I think), the airbag and column (with vats keys) were 250$, radiator + fan setup was 50, rear end went for 125$ (3.23's open/drum).

So, AFTER we all got the parts we wanted, the rest generated 1325$. Actually it was more, but the little stuff I don't really remember. We paid three folks in lunch (well, that AND I fix their cars usually) so the three of us 'made' 1325$ in 3.5 hours. The rollback owner is a buddy of mine and I gave him the title and he hauled it for free. He took it to salvage and put the cash in his gas tank. So 1325/3/3.5=126$. So we made 126$ PER HOUR for the three of us AND we each got well over our 250$ investment in the parts we needed. May not work for everybody, but it sure did work for us. Started at 0700 on a Sunday and we were done and all evidence gone or in garage by noon.

Spectre: We are not ford people. A buddy of mine runs fordpower and loaned me the bandwidth. Currently I own 5 Chevrolets and an EzGo (golf cart...I hate walking at the race track).

White91Formula: Yes the nose took a good while, I wanted it complete though.

Hoped ya'll liked the vid...

Wow, thanks for posting man. I don't know why everyone is getting so worked up over this car. Big deal, it wasn't that great of a car anyway. If it was a freakin Firehawk or something I would understand getting so pissed. Glad yall made some good money off it.

Oh geeze. I figured someone was going to take that post the wrong way and whine and complain about it. The car was a turd because it was a turd, not because it was an RS car. Get over it. It was not a rare car or anything, and just AS I SAID had been wrecked previously. I don't care if it was an IROC or Z28 or GTA, a beat down wrecked up turd is just that.

Come on guys, lets keep the bickering down a bit. One of the owners has already replied and stated the situation. Lets try to keep it unlocked for other people to Laugh at.

I think everyone is getting worked up because it looked nice. But the reason for that like you said is because the front end had been replaced!

Anyway, around here, a car with that configuration and with no frame damage goes for $2000. They made out great parting it out!

So which one of us are you referring to?

I am one of the ones who helped tear it down- and it was a bad, if not visible, crack that led to the demise of this car.

However, the parts will live on (cue Titanic theme) and are doing so in 3 other cars.

One is a 1le b4c, one is 86 z28, and the last (and mine) is an 88 SC.

I am getting the 5spd, got the a/c compressor, dash pad, and various other lil inside parts.

I was sad to see it torn down too- but at least it is being recylced by other 3rd gen'rs- and we ARE NOT dorf ppl- ok? The only Fords in the group are two Rangers- which serve as pit/crew/tow vehicles. Camaros definitely rool that roost. (The guy, shortcutsleeping, currently has 2 3rd's, 1 4th, a big *** chevy truck, and two race monzas. That's a shiznat load of chevy's for y'all to be calling us Ford peeps.

Pictures of my beast to be posted when i get back home from work tonight.

Thanks...

Thanks for the welcoming... :-)

But I have been lurking here since May of last year, and Maria has been lurking since 2000. :-O

Last summer I did an LT1/T56 conversion to a 92 1LE car (not mine) and have surfed here ever since. Ran SCCA Asedan in an 89 1LE and later in a 82 Z for many years so the cars are fairly familiar to me.

So is it ironic that three of the people involved in that video have all been lurkers for at least a year, and that this is what brings out the first posts?

and I *still* haven't gotten an answer about the chicks and legs and such...

Yeah, somethings fishy here.

Hey! It looks just like mine (except the nose and hood). You should have put the nose and hood off that parted out RS on it.

And I wasn't crazy about the 88 nise and hood- and the originals had SERIOUS issues- well, i say original, but it was just what happened to be on the car when i got it- purple hood and red chin spoiler, and the nose was pretty beat up...

and besides, the 82 nose and hod (fiberglass- less weight were free, as long as i did the majority of the work (and I did!

I have some old pics of her somewhere, right after i got her- 15" chrome wheels (totally *******, no offense to anyone who might have them tho ; ), no rear spoiler, no speakers and no radio.

heheh- i even bought it without ever driving one (I had ridden in a friend's old v6 rs a time or two tho) and without ever hearing it run.
But it was a chevy, and a camaro, and i could race it.

whee!

ummm...just b/c it was hosted on ford power doesn't mean we are ford guys- we happen to know the admin b/c we've run with him at StangBang in Houston (all in our Camaros, which, if you read my initial post, equals 5, and Fords (Rangers) only equals 2), so he hosted the vid.

the car had lived a long hard life- it had an accident a couple of halloweens ago, and the owner still can't tell you what was hit, or where(and it was BAD!)- but that is why the nose looked so good, and why it now lives on in white on shortcutsleeping's 92 b4c.

If only you could see the amount of chevy/camaro stuff we have, you'd be convinced- I have a mini-shrine to camaros, with a way-awesome limited edition hot wheels Trans AM (race, not car) Camaro print (signed by the artist and Jack Baldwin), an OLD hupcap off maybe a '50 Chevy, plus about 30 1:64 Camaros, mostly Hot weels (B/c I collect those too, have close to 3000 of them) and pictures of my car in various stages of it's life as well.

Even tho I will admit- there were two rustang owners there, but they were just the cheap labor. hehehe

(and fyi: both the girls drive camaros- I in my 3rd gen, the other in a 4th. )
