82 T-top repair

I have an 82 with T-tops. The black polycarbonate channel that covers the edge of the T-top glass needs repair (cracked/broken). I've noticed that 86 and later cars don't have the channel around the T-top glass. Is the channel necessary to prevent leaks? If so, where to I find the replacement parts. (GM says the parts are discontinued).

Hmm. Since I doubt that GM changed the sheetmetal, you should look into the possibilities of replacing the black divider piece between the tops with one from a newer model, and likewise replacing the gaskets to one from a newer style. This should allow you to use the newer style t-tops if the sheetmetal is the same.
