I like the cf design posted above... What I was thinking of was to make one similar to the C5R, and duct the radiator airflow out the top of the hood. Is this something similar to the Viper duct, or more of a forward facing duct for intake air?

CF is not only lighter than glass but stronger and can stand a little more abuse. Even though I have quite a bit of black trim on my car, id have no problem painting over cf.

no.

it has the POTENTIAL to be lighter and stronger then glass.

however, when hand laminated like in thoes hoods or any hood someone would make for our cars, they weigh the same as glass, are only as strong as glass and can take no more abuse then glass.

this is the point that never comes across.

its only when its surrounded by high pressure air and heated with the proper resins that its actually stronger... its stronger because its dense from the compression.
you can do the same to fiberglass too

the weight savings only occurs when you do the same strength technique as above, but design it to use less material to take advantage of the strength.
unless you intend to make a $5000 + CF hood thats as thick as two sheets of paper, you arnt getting any more weight savings.
spend $5000+ on a CF hood thats as thick as the others, and you'll have one you can stand on and jump, but do you NEED that strength?
