Chemical Guy

Not sure how many people here have used their products but they are the best, I recently switched over from my previous supplier. I normaly order body shop safe supplies, but since these were for my personal vehicles I decided to try some other lines. I have to say the V38 Optical Final Polish-Optical Grade Final Polish is amazing on a mid to dark car, I have not yet tried it on white but the Blue car was so deep after application. I will try it on black later this month.

Re: Chemical Guy

Has any one tried or uses Black to "Black"? If so, hows it work?

Re: Chemical Guy

I use many, many products from their line. I tired the V36/V38 on my dad's truck a month or so back and I really like those polishes. I was previously using a combo of 778/P40 polish, which is also a proven combo that works really well, but the V36/V38 don't dust nearly as much and have a nice long work time which I appreciate.

Where CG really shines is in wash soaps (I use Citrus Wash/Gloss for stripping prior to correction and Glossworkz as my maintenance soap which won't strip wax/sealants and has excellent lubricity), sealants, and waxes. The Pete's 53 wax looks excellent on a black car, and the combo of Jetseal 109/Pete's is very, very durable even on a black car that sits outside year-round in the rain/snow/sun. Also their EZ-Creme Glaze is top notch. I have their 50/50 wax as well which I will use on my metallic blue Camaro next spring, but I haven't opened it yet but it too gets great reviews for metallic cars so I'm excited to try it. I am also happy with their 5.5" Hexlogic pads, though I have nothing to compare them to.

I've only tried two products I didn't like--Glassworkz glass cleaner (may not be on the site yet, I called and asked for it a couple months back as it was brand new) and G6 Hypercoat. The Glassworkz streaked horribly, so I almost think it had to be a bad batch. The G6 provides the right kind of shine on tires/trim--a shine a lot like Armor-All--not too much, not too little...just makes things look nice and black like they should. However, I noticed that it runs after a rain, so I may try VRP next.

Overall very happy with the line, and have a small shipment on the way right now.

Re: Chemical Guy

I just ordered the Back-to-Black, should have it along with the citrus wash around end of the week, their site is actually overwhelming with all the products.

Has anyone used their waffle pads?

Yeah I have for a couple years now. Love the stuff! Water based so does not effect finish if you get on your paint, and does not leave a greasy feel.

Re: Chemical Guy

Ditch the Blacklight and that Pert Plus 2 in 1 sealant/wax...get yourself the Jetseal 109 and a good paste wax, like 50/50 or Pete's 53.

Re: Chemical Guy

I actually used the Blacklight on my wifes black Durango and it added some really nice depth to it. I always use a sealant wax on her vehicle since it sits outside. I will try the Jet-seal, I always use a machine to wax.

Re: Chemical Guy

I wouldnt say they are the best. They def are up there with some top of the line products. I have used some stuff off their line, but in all honesty I probably wouldn't choose them if I had to choose the best brand product for each different application. Good stuff but there is stuff from, Megs, poorboys, collonite, DP, Menzerna, 3m, Pinnacle, and wolfgang that score a bit higher on the board. IMO chemical guys is great stuff for the car enthusiast who wants better quality than an average OTC product.

Re: Chemical Guy

I still use 3M Perfect-it for cutting and 3M Finese-it glaze with a wool pad for the finish on new paint. But for home use and even at the shop these are great products. I got up early and detailed the wifes SUV, she said I did the ZO6 last weekend but her poor truck sits outside everyday. Now this truck has sat outside since 2006 in the FL sun, it goes to the beach twice a week and goes thru a car wash now and then. I used the Chemical guys products on it today and she came out pretty darn good.

+1 for 3m products...Check out the shine on my baby after using the 3m polish. I can literally use the reflection off the paint as a mirror:

Definitely try the Jetseal. Black light is alright, as long as you realize it's classified as a glaze (many people think it's a sealant but CG themselves say it's a glaze). Once you realize it's a glaze though, it's pretty tough to beat EZ-Creme which is a household product of theirs--I get a lot of depth on my black Mustang with the EZ-Creme.

A sealant wax is fine, but you'd still be better off sealing it and waxing it, in two separate steps. Two coats of sealant, and two coats of wax; also from all I've read it's really better to wax by hand, though I have never waxed with a machine so I can't comment I suppose. By the time I get to the wax stage I'm looking forward to the speed of doing something by hand (since with a boutique wax it's just buff on and buff off, no need to work it or haze it) and putting the Porter Cable away.

Re: Chemical Guy

Yea I used the V36 and 38 then the Blacklight then did the sealant, like I said this truck is her workhorse its allways outside. The FL sun does no favors to black vehicles, this is why I wanted to try their sealant. I will look into the other products you mentioned after I do the final buff with the wool pad on my vert. Like I said the I am very happy with the results on the SUV it shines and has depth and thats all I can ask for a 7 year old vehicle that sits outside.
