Don't bother asking that here. You'll get a bunch of "OMG MAACO SUX!!!!11!!one" and "I'D RATHER HAVE MY DOG PAINT MY CAR!!!" with a few "I had Maaco do my car and it turned out just fine." Just do a search.

Basically, each Maaco is independently owned, and therefore you will yield different results at each establishment. Just try to get a look at some of their work beforehand.

Personally, especially for a daily driver, these are the two points I make:

1. I'd rather spend 5000 bucks on go-fast parts and 500 bucks on a paintjob rather than vice-versa.

2. I'd rather get my car painted every couple of years for 500 bucks and always have fresh paint on my car rather than pay for a 5000+ dollar paintjob and have it get dinged, chipped, and scratched by driving it and parking in parking lots.

I think FyeLance makes all the points needed. I fall in his number 3 spot. I've had macco on my car for 5 years.

But since you want to change color on your car you have two choices. Black out your door jams yourself or pay them 60 bucks per door jam. The thing to consider it is a single stage enamel they have for the 3-600 dollar range they do have 2 stage base clear for like 6-900. You will want to take off your tail lights when you drop it off because they will just tape it up and will get it on the lights.

This is the most important thing to remember with macco:::::
They will do as little as possible, so if you want it done you must tell them to do it.

Just remember when you do a macco job it will cost you alot more to paint it right afterward because it all must come off because there paint isn't chemically compatible with normal auto paint.

ive actually gotten two cars done at macco......one was primered...the other wasnt...

1. MAKE SURE YOUR PRIME THE CAR FIRST....macco paint has a tendancy to just peel off since they paint over old paint and barey scuff it up....

2. tape off as much as you wish to...i did my tailights and headlights in the parking lot....i coulda done the weather stripping...but they barely got any there

3.wet sanding definately helped my cars finish 200x....jsut make sure you practice first on like a junkyard panel or something..

4. Good luck and hope your happy with your cheap paint....i guess im easy to please but even with the couple spots it chipped and peeled it looks real nice...oh and...do any body work yourself...i dun care if you have never done it before...it will be better than theirs...

Everyone makes good points. I had my 83 painted there, got the $300 job cuz I was strapped for cash. I'm getting the signiture service ($900) on my 86 in a few weeks. Here's the pic of the 83, you make your own call.
