First Attempt at Polishing Aluminum!!

Started Polishing new TPI I just purchased. I've never tried polishing Aluminum before so I figured I'd start with the least important piece....the thermastat housing. Turned out better than I had planned!! All was done by hand starting with 80 grit to remove some of the deep nicks in the aluminum and worked my way up to 2000 grit, finishing with Mothers aluminum polish. I used my Craftsman dremel tool with a carbide bit to remove the casting marks and the 2 protruding bumps on the front of the housing just above the front bolt hole. Those of you who have TPI know which ones I'm refering too. What do you guys think of my work?? Next piece to get polished is the Plenum!!

LOL took me a long time. Only because this piece was pretty banged up, was considering buying a new one to start with but figured I'd try to get this one looking good and it came out pretty good...took a lot of sanding with 80 grit. I'll post pics of the plenum when I get that done.

** Thanks to those who helped **

overall i saw it looks wonderful, but u can still see the lines in it.. either got ape**** with 2000 grit for a long time, or get some of that tripoli stuff * i think white???* and the little buffing pad. it will take the lines out.

Just to let you know you only have to go 400 grit wet.

Good job on it though

yeah I know about the lines. After I get all the other pieces up to this point I'll purchase a buffing pad and some white rouge to give it a mirror finish.

You should get yourself a nice buffing wheel and some white rouge, it would make that sucker look like chrome!

Looks good though!
