New Paint ??? $

My father used to work in a body shop as a job a few years back. If I have him completely prep my entire 1992 Z-28 camaro for paint how much money is a reasonable price to get it resprayed the stock red color? It doesn't have to be absolut perfection but not garbage either. Just a plain old good paint job. What should the average estimate be without doorjames or underhood. Just exterior? And will candy apple red be that much more $$$ if so how much are we looking at? I know alot of you guys have had your cars repainted just give me a ballpark. How much we lookin at here?

Thank you - Pete

$1000, thats the cost for paint supplies only though d00d, that what my buddy 8ball body shop quoted me since they will do prep for free.

They got this really cool tank they dip the metal parts in and it strips everything, try to find one of those.

yes, i did just get it painted in august. I might be gettign it repainted sometime soon so thats what he quoted me, my paint is only single stage and it was only to last for a little while. Maybe a year before a real paint job.

candy apple isn't much more in cost of supplies but it is alot more in labor as you have to paint the car three times unlike a stock solid color which would only be once. so how much would just spraying candy cost....well most good painters won't take on the job unless they know the prep work because if they mess up on one of the coats it has to be done all over again. i would say 1,000-1,500 just to spray the car. theres a fine line between doing your own work and otherwise. if your really hurting for cash and you know the body and prep is good try some place like macco. just search out the individual painter as everyone is different.

candy is alot more though so expect to pay....
