Everyone

This is a continuation of the 17" GTA wheels thread, and it's for everyone interested in 17" like it says. I just wanted everybodies attention interested to see this.
I talked to Hawks, they apparently have been toying with this idea, but they have been trying to find a manufacturer willing.
I also talked to the guys at www.usacomp.com about their CNX modular wheel like the GTA. (they actually look very much like the old BBS RZ's) They can make them, even in different colours. BUT they are expensive. So I put Hawk's in touch with them to see if they can make a deal.
In the mientime, I told both of them that I would put out a word to see what the REAL interest would be. For either to do something, they would have to know DEFINITE numbers before giving a price on group purchases. There may have to be deposits also.
Which brings about the people REALLY interested, like for sure. A deposit does sound a little hard to part with, especially for something not built yet. BUT, this isn't some special order part in a warehouse, this is a special order part that has to be built. From a business standpoint, you can't go on what people say, 30 guys can turn into 5 pretty quickly, then you have these rims made, and no current buyer - $ loss for your business. SO, the difference between WANTING a set of 17" GTA style rims and "WILL BUY" a set of these rims is what this thread is about.
Anyone who would put cash down tomorrow for a set, post your name, after we get a few (a few dozen I hope), we go back with a number, and see what kind of price we would have to pay then. I have told both parties to keep an eye on here to see just how many SERIOUS buyers there are willing to buy. If this gets pushed, these rims can be going in a reasonable timeframe. I was told a set could be made in 3 weeks. If they assembly line the rims (in labour style) they could crank out some in no time. The current price is $1900, yes alot. I'dd like to see it around $1500, but there will have to be more than a couple of people willing to put forth cash for these for the price to drop that far I'dd say.
So lets see who is serious. I am. 1 - Buddy.

As long as they will allow the use of 13" Baer or C4 brakes on the front I want a set. Mark me down as #2. Since they aren't built yet, maybe there could be another conversation about the colors (factory colors) and the center caps that would be used. The flat type cap would throw the look off I tend to think, so a wheel that uses the factory caps would be the cat's ***. The only other thing I see standing there giving me the finger is the width/offset. They'd have to be rotatable and they'd have to fit without spacers and they'd have to be at least 9 inches wide.

There is another thread here that has seen more action: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=234245

I am sending an email to Performance Wheel Outlet to see what they think of this situation. I think that since they are the ones that offer the big IROC wheels at a reasonable price, they may be able to tell us what the process would cost, etc.

That's excellent, the more venders, maybe a little price competition. Hopefully they will be interested.

Well they aren't interested, at all. They sent me back an e-mail stating that they have no intention of building a GTA type wheel. That leaves us 1 option for a factory appearing 17" GTA wheel, hopefully they are gentle...

Well, that limits things. Hopefully there will be enough people on here who want these rims to get a large enough discount. Or maybe Hawk's can work a deal and they'll be available through them at a reasonable rate. Anybody else serious???

$1900...damn.

The Ronal 'Hawk wheels were what? like 1500-1800ish?

Those TT2s and Prostar XPs are starting to sound mighty good again.

If the pricetag ever comes down, I'll take a set in silver.
Til then, no way.

All the Ronal Firehawk style wheels are gone, they stopped making them, and pretty much everywhere who sold them are sold out.

Oh, I'm aware, I'm just sayin.

I love the GTAs and all (like any thirdgenner)

But I don't love the $1900 tag for em...specially when (I think)
Classic Industries is selling the reg. 16x8's for like..$400-550ish a set.

Although still very expensive, I'dd like to see a 17" GTA style wheel for $1500 MAXIMUM!!! I to am not made of money like most everyone on here, going bigger is nice, but you can go bigger for cheaper on other rims. Problem is, I happen to think no rim stlye looks better on my car, so I'm backed in a corner, like everyone else in this situation. Hopefully Hawks can come up with an economical rim.
