Need some info about lowering my car.

This coming week I'm gonna be dropping my car and was thinking about 1in in the front and 1 1/2in in the back, but first I really have a few things to ask you guys about cause I know nothing about springs.

1). Is this a safe drop with worry of scrubing? If not then what is a safe drop with out worrying about scrubing? I'll be putting 18's(8/w 4.5bs & 9.5/w 5.5bs) by the end of the year, but right now its sitting on 16" iroc wheels. Im look more toward problems with the 18's then with the 16's.

2). I'll be going to Napa Auto Parts or Ebay to buy them and will probably get Eibachs or Dropzone(witch ever is cheapest). The question I have for this is what do I ask for? Is there a part# for these springs or do I just tell them what type of car and the amount of drop? Also dosent Eibach have diffent brands of springs? If so whats a good brand?

Any help would be very greatful.

Safe as in no rub? No, you will probably rub the air dam on everything after you lower it, but that's the price we pay to be in the weeds. If you have tire rub, you'll need to remove the plastic fender liners and massage (by that I mean flatten) the body seam in there. The other thing to do at the same time is replace the a-arm bushings, ball joints, struts and tie rods. You will need an alignment after the new springs anyway, so why not freshen up the whole front end.

I'd suggest a complete spring kit (all 4) in whatever brand you want. Personally, I have a pair of Eibach Sport-Kit springs in the rear of my car and love them. I have BellTech lowering spindles in the front, so I used Heavy Duty replacement springs up there. Eibach makes Edelbrock's springs for sure, I don't know about others. Just do the research and buy the right spring kit for the amount you want to go down. Summit has them all on their web-site and they all say how far they will drop your car.

On a side note, I wouldn't lower the rear more than the front unless your car has the Joe Dirt rake going on. It seems that on these cars, even when they are level, the front looks higher than the rear and if you make the front a half inch higer still, you may end up looking like you have a trunk load of cement bags.

Use the search feature, there is a ton of information on this site about lowering, including pictures of what the cars look like before and after dropping.

Good luck
